The Omega Lab

From the depths of the oceanto the inside of a wormhole, Unknown Worlds left a few interesting things for people to find on 4546B. Most people will not even know that these peculiar features exist inBelow Zero.

Updated on July 08, 2025, by Jack Pursey:Subnautica: Below Zerowas fully released over 5 months ago, while, believe it or not, its early access first hit stores almost three years ago now. Throughout this period of time, even more secrets have been discovered in Planet 4546B’s ocean, helped no doubt by the wave of new players that explored the game following its release on Game Pass.

An Architect Teleporter

Exploring the dark corners of Planet 4546B is one of the game’s most exciting, but also most terrifying features. These dark corners tend to contain the game’s most interesting secrets, which causes many players to miss them, due to fearing whathorrifying creaturesmay be lurking around. To shine a light on some moreSubnautica: Below Zero secrets, we’ve updated this list to include a few more entries.

11Omega Lab

The Omega Lab can be found within a floating rock near the center of the Lilypad Islands biome. Although the far-reaching biome initially appears unsettling, it’s worth knowing that there are usually no Leviathans lurking in the area, making the search for the Omega Lab a surprisingly safe one.

The Omega Lab was built by Alterra and contains numerous interesting resources, including a blueprint for Swim Charge Fins.

Thermal Reactors

10Architect Teleporter

Subnautica: Below Zerohas numerous features that differentiate it from mostopen-world games. Most notably, the game doesn’t feature fast travel, nor does it have any form of in-built map feature. Consequently, it can be a nightmare having to collect certain resources, as players will have to travel all over the map, often having no idea whether they’re heading in the right direction.

Thankfully, there is one hidden fast-travel available in the game, though it only takes players to two specific locations. There are two Architect Teleporters in 4546B, one in the Arctic Spires and one in the Phi Robotics Center. The teleporters certainly don’t solve the game’s travel issues, though it is a handy way to travel between two of the game’s most significant arctic areas.

bay in an icy island and an above water biome.

9Thermal Reactors

By the time players have spent a few hours in Planet 4546B’s ocean, they will become accustomed to the alien underwater life, and human-made creations will become the thing that’s jarring. One jarring moment comes from when players travel deep intothe Thermal Spires biome.

RELATED:Subnautica: Below Zero: Tips For Beginners

Lying amongst the plant life and fauna is a platform with a range of storage and mechanisms, including destroyed thermal reactors. It is likely that the reactors were built by Marguerit Maida, who possibly abandoned them due to their close proximity to Rock Punchers and Cryptosuchus' that may have destroyed them.

Although the Thermal Reactors can, in theory, be found relatively early in the game, most players will avoid traveling to the Thermal Spires' depths, as it’s one of the first dangerous biomes in the game, so most players will avoid it at first then have no real reason to travel to its depths later.

Chelicerate in World Edge

8Climb On Top Of Glaciers

Near theFrozen Leviathan spawn, there are several areas where players can get on top of the glaciers.Using the Shrimp Suitfor vertical thrust, it is possible to climb up the icy walls and view the Leviathan from above.

Gamers need to look for areas with a path leading up the wall, and there need to be a couple of outcrops for them to jump onto. While technically the areas are not out of the map, it is nice to have aview of the world from abovefor a change.

AL-AN Subnautica

7Deep Sea Exploration

Those who are curious to see what lurks at the furthest depths of the game will eventually enter the World Edge biome, which is thedeepest point inSubnautica Below Zero. At the deepest points, players can travel to 1,000 meters below sea level. Around 500 meters, a warning will appear stating that the Sea Truck is entering the dead zone. Once players cross the threshold, multipledead zone Leviathanwill swarm. Checking out the depths is fun, but as the warning states, it will almost always result in death.

Those that go far enough down can actually find a seafloor some 1,000 meters down, which isSubnautica Below Zero’sdeepest point. Unfortunately, the only creatures that roam the depths are the dangerous Leviathan, which can be seen in packs of three or more. Few players have actually seen the dark and dreary depths of the ocean inBelow Zero.

6Get AL-AN’s Arms

If people can manage to glitch out of the map and/or kill themselves in the final cut scene, they will respawn with AL-AN’s Arms. It is easier with console commands, but some in the community have managed to kill themselves without any additional software.

Those that manage to die with AL-AN’s arms will respawn with them and be able to keep them as long as they do not finish the story. The special alien arms are cool to play with for a while, before finishing the game.

Subnautica Dev Area

5Find The Testing Area

After climbing the glaciers near the Frozen Leviathan spawn, gamers can access the developer testing area. By staying on the glaciers and walking northwest, they will be able to see the small signs in the distance. Those signs and areas were created to troubleshoot bugs and test changes before implementing them in the game.

While most of the area is harmless, it is possible that players will instantly die if they access the wrong area. So far, none of the areas have been deadly. Still, everyone should explore with caution, especially when playing on hardcoremode.

Propulsion Cannon in Below Zero

4Achieve Warp Speed

There is a secret way to go incredibly fast inBelow Zero. With a propulsion cannon and a booster tank, Robin can travel faster than AL-AN’s ship.

To perform the glitch, people will need to grab an item or creature with the cannon and activate the booster. What results is a speed two or even three times faster than the booster alone. Using this method is the most fun way to get from biome to biome inBelow Zero. Fingers crossed that Unknown Worlds does not patch the glitch.

3Get Outside Of The Map

It is possible to phase into the map while underwater by using a compartment. Gamers can place the compartment near a rocky structure underwater with a hatch opening toward the structure. If placed close enough, exiting through the hatch will push Robin outside of the map.

It can be tedious to pull off, but using the compartment is one of the only tested out-of-bounds methods inBelow Zero.Getting outside of the map allows players to travel from place to place without having to worry about predators.

biome with twisting rock formations.

2The Ending & Console Commands

Anyone that has not yet finished the game or watched the final scenes should skip the next two sections, as they spoil a few details. There are plenty of interesting things for people with console commands to explore in the final cutscene in the game. For example, the area where AL-AN teleports Robin is actually a part of the base map in the game but blocked off by invisible walls.

During the space travel scene, the attention to detail is impeccable when the image is zoomed out. One of the funniest things to witness is that the entire map near the teleporter is actually pulled into the space map. Al-AN brought Robin to a new world, but the old world wanted to come along.
