Summary
Haunted Chocolatieris the upcoming chocolate confectionery store simulator by ConcernedApe, creator of the critically acclaimed indie titleStardew Valley. Development forHaunted Chocolatierbegan in 2020, and updates on the game’s progress have been sparse ever since. At one point in time, it appeared as though 2024 would be the yearHaunted Chocolatierlaunched, asStardew Valley’s development only took four years. However, that hope is quickly slipping away as the year progresses.
Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely thatHaunted Chocolatierwill be released in 2024, and it might actually be for the best if the game isn’t finished yet. Even so, there is a good chance that2024 could be a big year forHaunted Chocolatier, even if that doesn’t involve its release. While there has been no official confirmation made by ConcernedApe that 2024 could be a year of any significance forHaunted Chocolatier, one rather significant piece of evidence suggests so. Specifically, it involves a Twitter post made by the developer in 2023.

Why 2024 May Still Be a Big Year for Haunted Chocolatier
Work on Haunted Chocolatier Will Resume After Stardew Valley 1.6 Launches
At least for a year now, ConcernedApe has been hard at work onStardew Valley’s next big update. The 1.6 update will not only fix various bugs and improve the game’s quality of life in certain areas but also add new content. The update has been particularly anticipated thanks to the addition of aNew Year’s Festival toStardew Valley, two new mini-festivals, and new late-game content.
The first platform to receive the update will be the PC on March 19, with other platforms to follow, so it is only around the corner. Aside from the major benefit this will be toStardew Valleyplayers, it will also benefit fans who have been awaiting more news onHaunted Chocolatier.

In a Twitter post on June 07, 2025, ConcernedApe announced that there would be a1.6 update forStardew Valleyand that it was taking a break from its work onHaunted Chocolatierto prioritize the update. However, it was also shared that it would be getting back to work onHaunted Chocolatieronce the update went live.
This could either mean that it will resume its work onHaunted Chocolatierafter the update launches on PC on March 19 or that development for the chocolate confectionery store sim will continue once the update has gone live on every platform. Either way,Haunted Chocolatierwill enter active development once again very soon.

Haunted Chocolatier’s Continued Development Could Mean More Updates From the Developer
With ConcernedApe getting back to work onHaunted Chocolatierfollowing the launch ofStardew Valley1.6, this could simultaneously lead to it providing more updates to the community on its progress. As far as the development blog onHaunted Chocolatier’s website goes, the last post was on June 17, 2025.
Additionally, althoughConcernedApe has continued to update fans on its official Twitter page, those updates have been very minor and have provided little substantial information. As such, as long as development forHaunted Chocolatiercontinues, there is little reason why ConcernedApe wouldn’t update fans along the way, especially withStardew Valley’s 1.6 update out of the way.
