Development continues on All Elite Wrestling’s upcoming pro wrestling gameAEW Fight Forever. Much remains mysterious aboutAEW Fight Forever, however, and updates on the game are delivered haphazardly. In the latest example, AEW owner Tony Khan gave an update onAEW Fight Forever, answering questions regarding a much-discussed topic – DLC. While much remains in the air on the topic, Khan appears to confirm that post-launch roster additions are in the works.TheAEW Fight Forevernews came as part of an interview with Khan on the Talking On a Corner podcast with Andreas Hale. Khan was asked about when fans could expect to playAEW Fight Forever, and while Khan wasn’t able to discuss release plans, he did go on to talk about the game’s roster. He explained to Hale thatAEW Fight Foreverfeatures “a lot of the great stars of AEW,” including wrestlers who have been signed in the past year. This seems to confirm that not all ofAEW’s recently signed talentswill be a part of the game at launch.RELATED:AEW Wrestling Game Release Window LeakedWhile AEW’s full roster seemingly won’t be included with the launch ofAEW Fight Forever, Khan says that they’ll “be able to add people through DLC” later. This is important to Khan, in part, because AEW has signed so much new talent in the past year, which makes it difficult for theteam at Yuke’sto keep up. Tony wants to bring as many of these exciting wrestlers to the game even if they were signed late, though, and DLC may be the only way to do that.
At this point in time, AEW has not announced anything about its overall roster size. There were previously rumors that AEW was aiming for a roster size of 50 wrestlers, which while substantial doesn’t come close to including all ofAEW’s 100+ wrestlers.
Tony Khan’s confirmation will put to rest some worries, however. A relatively recent report implied that negotiations with Yuke’s regarding the possibility of DLC characters were troubled. Yuke’s was said to want a long-term contract formore games beyond justAEW Fight Forever, while AEW wanted to explore its options for its next game. It remains unclear if that report was true or if it’s been resolved.
Before DLC characters can even be an issue,AEW Fight Foreverstill needs to be fully unveiled. While rumors have pointed to a 2022 release, the lack of information aboutAEW Fight Forevermay indicate it’s coming in 2023 or beyond.AEW Fight Forever’s rumored publisherhasn’t even been announced yet. Fans will just have to wait and hope news regardingAEW Fight Foreverarrives soon.
