Released in 2014, Creative Assembly’sAlien: Isolationis fondly remembered by horror fans as one of the most faithful recreations of the movie world’s extraterrestrial being, with its deadly stealth mechanics and terrifying atmosphere. The 2014 title is generally considered by many to beone of the best video game adaptations of theAlienfranchise. Now, fans will no doubt be excited to hear that the sci-fi horror will be coming to mobile devices, seven years after originally being released on PC and console.

In a recent video uploaded to the Sega America YouTube channel, it was announced thatAlien: Isolationwill be coming to iOS and Android devices on December 16. Asone of the scariest horror games of the last ten years, it’s surprising that the mobile ports weren’t made available in time for Halloween, but it being made available on phone and tablet will be pleasing to many, either those who are keen to re-experience the terror on a smaller screen, or for newcomers who have yet to experience what madeAlien: Isolationsuch a success.

Games based off Ridley Scott or James Cameron’s worlds are often quite hit-and-miss. The most recent adaptation is theco-op shooterAliens: Fireteam, which leans more towards the marine-based high octane action of the second film, as opposed toIsolationwhich went much deeper into the slow burning horror. Creative Assembly’s efforts came about a year after the universally pannedAliens: Colonial Marines, and many fans would probably argue thatIsolationhelped show the world that it was possible to make a high quality, and, above all, scary,Aliengame.

The industry is currently in something of a golden age of terrifying titles, with thelast console generation experiencing some fantastic horror, such asOutlast,Prey, andAmnesia: A Machine for Pigs. WithAlien: Isolationcoming out on mobile devices soon, there is a renewed opportunity for players to, once again, play a game of cat and mouse with one of the most vicious and deadly monsters in cinematic history.
