Mario has played several roles since the character was first imagined inDonkey Kongback in 1981, and now a fan has imagined what he and Luigi would look like as Discord and Reddit mascots. TheSuper Mariofan calls these images cursed, but they’ve gained significant traction online.
Mario has been featured in several titles beyond the traditionalSuper Mariotitles. He joins the competition with many other Nintendo characters in titles such asMario Hoops,Mario Kart,Mario Party, andMario Strikers. Reddit user PsychoPeel has reimagined Mario and his brother Luigi as the “cursed” Reddit Mario and Discord Luigi.

Both PsychoPeel’s Discord Luigi and Reddit Mario are based on their Mario Hoops 3-on-3 basketball designs. Mario is striking a powerful stance, while Luigi timidly tries to keep the ball away from another player. PsychoPeel first released the image of Discord Luigi and based on popular feedback, decided to revisit the fan art concept with Reddit Mario.
Just like the color scheme of the popular website, Reddit Mario is clad head-to-toe in overalls that match the orangy-red color of Reddit. While the character’s hair is the same vibrant color, his mustache is as white as his gloves. The trademarkM cap that Mario typically wearshas been swapped for one that includes the Reddit alien, Snoo.
Floating just above the back of Reddit Mario’s head in this fan art is a feature that Reddit fans will be familiar with on Snoo, an antenna. Just like Mario, Luigi ditches his trademarked L cap for one with the originalDiscordlogo. Some Reddit users praised PsychoPeel’s use of the initial Discord logo due to disinterest in the new one. Discord Luigi also shares a color scheme with the popular social media app, covered in purple-blue rather than green.
SeveralRedditfans responded with hopes for otherSuper Marioheroes acting as mascots for other social media apps in fan art. Among the suggestions are 4Chan Wario, Instagram Peach, Snapchat Daisy, TikTok Waluigi, and YouTube Kids Bowser Jr. PsychoPeel hasn’t confirmed whether or not they will be continuing to makeSuper Mariocharacters as social media mascots.
One fan tried their hand at naming this version of Mario, suggesting Meddit and Redio, while another chimed in with Rario. Several Reddit users applauded the use ofHoops Mario as the sport serieshasn’t been revisited by Nintendo in a while. One noted that because of Mario’s cap being influenced by Reddit, the Reddit Mario image should be used as the channel image which is currently a retro drawing of Mario.
