TheAssassin’s Creedfranchise has a long history at this point, with games spanning thousands of years of history. While each title tends to tell its own story, they are linked to one another by way of the titularAssassin’s Creed and the modern-day storyline. Characters from the games don’t often hear about one another, butValhallahas a direct reference toOrigins.

AsAssassin’s Creed Valhallaplayers level up build up the town of Ravensthorpe, new people will come to settle it. One of these new arrivals is Reda, a character that veterans of the franchise may remember fromAssassin’s Creed Origins. Reda is a very mysterious character for a number of reasons, but tells Eivor and a group of kids a really interesting story.

It doesn’t take a historian to realize that Reda should be long dead by now. Canonically speaking,Assassin’s Creed Originstakes place in between 49 and 43 BC, whileAssassin’s Creed Valhallatakes place in the late 800s AD. It’s never explained how Reda managed to survive for over 800 years, but he’s clearly very familiar with the events ofAssassin’s Creed Origins.

While spending time in Ravensthorpe, children will often gather around Reda’s tent to hear him tell a story. Most players have probably heard him say the phrase “This one begins a long time ago at a desert oasis…” but ignored him in favor of doing trading fish or animal skins for items. Players actually have the option to stop and listen though, with Eivor leaning against a pole and taking in the entirety of the story, and as it happens, he’sretelling the events ofAssassin’s Creed Origins.

Reda tells the story of a guardian that protected a temple to an ancient god and his wife, an avid scholar. The two had a son, but he was tragically killed by the king of the land. Fans ofAssassin’s Creed Originsno doubt recognize where this is going, as it very clearly is a reference to that game’s story. While this is neat in and of itself, there’s actuallyanotherOriginseaster eggto be found here.

Players that manage to collect all six Hidden Ones codices can receive a letter from Bayek, the main character ofAssassin’s Creed Origins, to Reda. The letter is fully voice acted byAbubakar Salim, the voice of Bayekin the game, and ties up his story nicely. With how belovedOriginsis to hardcore fans of the series, this type of nod is much appreciated.
