As players get to the Adamantine Forge inBaldur’s Gate 3, they’ll be picking up six mysterious weapons and armor molds along the way. As they get deeper into the plot of Act 2, they’ll start to find clues about the location and operation of the Forge. It has its own Waypoint to the south of where Nere is trapped in Grymforge.
Instructions and materials are available for those who have the patience to search, but what is hidden from the player is exactly what these resulting items are like.Baldur’s Gate 3only has two pieces of Mithril Ore in the game, so gamers must choose only two of these six items. With that in mind, it’s wise to get a peak at exactly what these items do before committing to a couple of great options.

Updated June 04, 2025, by Kristy Ambrose:Even though the Adamantine Forgeand its construct guardian Grymare an optional part of the adventure inBaldur’s Gate 3, players go out of their way to find it. The armor and weapons favor combat classes or characters that can wear heavy armor and wield martial weapons. Each of the following six pieces requires one piece of adamantine ore and the matching mold, and some of these can be hard to find. There’s also the issue of Grym, the massive guardian who has to die before anything can be crafted, but at least you only have to kill it once.
Very Rare, Heavy Plate Armor
Stats
The Adamantine Splint is one of the best heavy armor pieces you can find inBaldur’s Gate 3, and what makes it even better is that you cancraft it early in Act 2. Combine it with the shield or one of the other weapons for a powerful melee build.
This is the only piece of Adamantine Armor that’s Very Rare. It’s also one of the easiest molds to find. Look to the east of the Waypoint, and it’s next to a crumbling ledge near the skeleton of a Dark Justiciar.

Ideal For A Defender Build
All the items made at the Adamantine Forge apply the Reeling debuff, which means a-1 to all attack rolls. This is one reason why it’s one of the best items to make for tank characters. When the splint armor and shield are worn together, attacks at the wearer get this penalty to hit whether their blow lands or misses.
Combining this with the Splint or Scale armor makes theAdamantine Shieldeven better. The mold can be looted from a skeleton behind a locked door in the Dormitory, at the top of a flight of stairs.

Medium Rare Armor
For those who want some extra protection but are limited to medium armor, there’s theAdamantine Scale Mail. It’s an ideal choice for Clericsand Rangers that are builtto handle some melee combat.
Another incentive to make that Adamantine Scale Male is that the mold is easy to find. It’s sitting next to a work table right next to the Waypoint, as if the craftspeople never left.

Gain The Flourish And Lacerate Attacks
A scimitar is a finesse weapon, so how effective it is depends on a character’s Dexterity as much as their Strength. Rogues, Rangers, and Druids who can use martial weapons are often equipped with scimitars, with Jaheria’s dual-wielding style being one famous example.
The mold for theAdamantine Scimitaris more difficult to find. you’re able to loot it from a skeleton on a half-destroyed stairway overlooking Nere’s location.

Devastating Melee Power With Pommel Strike, Rush Attack, and Lacerate
One of the best things about theAdamantine Longswordis that the stats and abilities will change depending on how you choose to wield it. This isnormally a two-handed weapon, but characters with the skill and Strength can use it as a one-handed weapon, with either a shield or a different weapon in the other hand.
Successful one-handed attacks from this weapon apply the Reeling debuff for 1 turn, and a two-handed attack applies it for 2 turns. The mold is sitting on the metal bridge hanging above the area between the Ancient Form Waypoint and Nere’s location.

Gain the Concussive Smash Attack
These options make for some good weapons, but since there are onlytwo places to find and mine Mithril Ore, this may not be the best expenditure of resources unless you’re a Cleric or Driuid. But for those that dual wield, it’s a decent offhand.
Heroes that specialize in damage dealing will likely want a weapon that adds more damage, but for a healer, it’s beneficial to make it less likely for an enemy to land hits. This mold is easily found by the Splint Mail Mold by the Ancient Forge Waypoint.
