Summary

Baldur’s Gate 3is a popular game for a lot of reasons, but the cast of interesting, funny, and tragic characters is one of the most important. That includes the companions, bosses, and even random NPCs that aren’t directly related to the story.

There are all kinds of people inBaldur’s Gate 3, and some of them are angry, happy, romantic, serious, or sassy. The characters that give us sass are the most memorable, and are often as funny as they are sharp.

6Figaro “Facemaker” Pennygood

Because Fashion Is A Fickle Mistress

The Facemaker Boutique is one of the busiest and most popular places in town, with a fine selection of dyes and fancy clothing, so it’s no surprise that the proprietor has a talent for dealing with people. Figaro not only makes a quick recovery from his near-death at the hands of Dolor, but has his stock ready and waiting for the next client.

Speak with Figaro and ask him about a discount for saving his life, and he’s not afraid to tease the main character about it. Figaro keeps his cheer turned up to eleven even after surviving a close encounterwith a Bhaalist assassin, so he’s also got an iron will under that fancy coat.

5Barcus Wroot

Not Sure What He Sees In The Stolid Wulbren

This is a character that players can meet in Act 1,and if they save him,he’ll follow them on their journey to Baldur’s Gate, right up to the final fight with the Absolute. His quips, jokes, and self-depreciation make him a nice point of comic relief.

What makes the humble Barcus so endearing isn’t just his stubborn determination to do everything he canfor his fellow Deep Gnomes, despite the danger, but his love and loyalty for the notorious Wulbren Bongle. The leader of the Deep Gnomes isn’t the most endearing character, so perhaps the real secret is why the plucky Barcus is always trying to help him.

4Lucretius

A Necromancer Who Loves Wine And Hates Clowns

“Screaming children, an oozing corpse, and it’s not even my birthday.” So goes one of the introductory scenes that features Lucretius, the sassy proprietorof the Circus of Last Days. She doesn’t have anything against murder in general, being a Necromancer and all, but it’s putting off the crowd and she can’t have it.

What follows is one of the worst quests in the game. Players have to explore every nook and cranny of Baldur’s Gate and the surrounding environs to find the various parts of Dribbles so Lucretius can resurrect her most popular act, and it’s only because of her colorful and biting sass that they’ll agree to do it.

3Mol

A Smart And Outspoken Survivor

Mol is another character whose story begins in Act 1, and if the player saves the Tiefling children in Druid Grove, her journey continues into Act 3. Not all players find her hidden lair beneath the Grove or discover the thieving ring that she’s running right underneath the nose of the resident Druids.

Mol even has the ambition to make a deal with a devil, which is what she’s doing when you find herplaying lance-board with Raphael. She was smart enough to know that a sharp tongue wasn’t enough to save her and the other Tiefling children from the powers of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. You can free her from the contract if you find it in the House of Hope and destroy it.

2Mizora

A Devil Who Knows All The Details

Mizora isn’t a companion, but her status as Wyll’s patron gives her a space in camp and even a romance option. How the player character feels about Mizora depends on how they feel about the Sword of Frontiers, or their feelings about devils in general, but any player has to admit that she has some great sass.

She easily out-thinks Wyll at every turn and seems to have a calm but cutting answer for every one of the questions or demands he has for her. If every patron was as sassy as Mizora, there wouldbe a lot more Warlocksin Faerun.

1Astarion

The Tongue Cuts Deeper Than The Teeth

They say that Karlach is the heart ofBaldur’s Gate 3, and the Narrator is the soul, but the sass belongs to Astarion. Even from the moment the player first meets him, he’s full to the brim with snide comments and cutting jokes, always ready with a smart-ass comment for virtually every scene.

Hundreds of memes have been generated of his quips and sneers, generating no small amount of glee on various fansites. Despite Astarion’s reputation for sass (and it’s well-earned) the character also hassome of the most profound and serious momentsin the game, which is why he’s so popular.
