In a new blog post giving fans a development update for November 2022, EA confirms thatBattlefield 2042is finally being added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Access. The news should please fans of the shooter, which has seen a rebirth over the past few months. WhileBattlefield 2042having a notoriously bad launch period, forcing DICE to essentially alter its DLC plans to prioritize critical improvements and overhauls, the title has settled into a much better space as of late.
Following a pretty big delay, seasonal content finally kicked off earlier in the summer, adding new specialists, battle pass content, maps, and plenty of fixes. Alongside prior updates,Battlefield 2042has seen plenty of positivity in the community, with the first season even boosting player numbers by a huge total. DICE is planning one of it’s biggest updates toBattlefield 2042yet in Season 3 and in an effort to entice even more players to check out the game, EA had a major announcement to share.

As part of the November 2022 development update,Battlefield 2042Season 3 will bring the first-person shooter to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as well as EA Access. For those who may not have access to those specific platforms, EA is also planning to host free access periods in December, so PlayStation fans will be able to check out the game for a limited time completely free as well.
The development post also outlined what players can expect to see in Season 3, which is now only a few weeks away. In addition to a new, and as of yet, unannounced specialist and the return of XM8 and A-91 weapons, DICE is bringing back the highly requested class system similar to past games in the franchise. Each specialist has been reorganized into one of four roles that gives them access to specialized sets of gadgets, equipment, and role based weapon proficiencies.
Battlefield 2042Season 3 also continues the map rework trendby seeing major overhauls to Manifest and Breakaway. With Manifest, the HQ flags have been placed closer to the action, removing redundant play space and adding better lighting for improved visibility. Later in season 3, Breakaway is also getting overhauled to bring the Oil Rig closer to improve gameplay flow, removing the Outpost flag which was deemed irrelevant, and further map improvements from shaders to the town layout.
DICE is hoping that many of these updates and community requested features will bring the players back to experience a game which has largely improved from where it was last year. Curiously enough, it seems many of these longtime players have indeed returned to the franchise, just not with the game DICE likely expected.Battlefield 1has seen a massive resurgence on Steamas of late for a game that launched back in 2016. It has managed to reach concurrent numbers that have overtaken previous records held when it first launched on the platform.
Battlefield 2042is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
