The job of a goalkeeper is arguably the most important in a game of football. They are the last line of defense, and they are the only thing standing between the striker and the goal. Usually, it is the strikers who gain the attention of the spectators, but the goalkeepers do their work quietly.

5Jan Oblak (89)

For many years, Jan Oblak has been the benchmark for other goalkeepers, but last season saw him performing well below his capabilities. He conceded an enormous number of goals, which sullied his otherwise exquisite record. This was a combination of Simeone changing his tactics constantly and Oblak’s below-par performances.

Ederson playing for Manchester City

Clearly,FIFAkept a close watch on his performances, as in the latest edition of the game, Oblak’s rating has gone down by two points. InFIFA 23, Oblak has a rating of 89, which is still extremely high and puts him in the top 23 rated players. Jan Oblak’s four highest-rated traits are 90 handling, 89 reflexes, 87 positioning, and 86 diving. These stats are in no way bad, but Oblak will be hoping to get back to previous levels as Atletico Madrid prepare for another season.

4Ederson (89)

Ederson is the main goalkeeper for Manchester City, and he also plays occasionally for the Brazilian national team. Ederson has been a great player for Manchester City ever since he signed for them in 2017. His biggest asset is his passing, and it has often been compared to that of midfielders. Ederson’s shot-stopping skills are fairly average.

On numerous occasions, he has been beaten by rather easy shots, which has raised a lot of eyebrows over his ability, however, due to City’s superior attack, his mistakes often get overlooked.

Alisson pointing up

Ederson won the Premier League yet again with Manchester City, and he shared the Golden Glove with Liverpool’s Alisson Becker. With the addition of Erling Haaland, Manchester City will be hoping to win the only trophy that eludes them-the UEFA Champions League. Ederson has retained hisrating of 89 fromFIFA 22, which makes him one of the best goalkeepers in the game. Unsurprisingly, Ederson has 91 in kicking, 88 in positioning, 88 in reflexes, and 87 in diving.

3Alisson Becker (89)

Alisson Becker is themain goalkeeper for Liverpool and Brazil. After a relatively poor season in the 2020/21 season, he was back to his best in the last season. Alisson consistently bailed out Liverpool in numerous games, and suffice to say, the team would not have been competing for four trophies without him. Liverpool won two trophies last season, and they narrowly missed out on the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Alisson’s performances also ensured that he ended up winning the Golden Glove Award, with 20 clean sheets to his name. Alisson was comfortably among the best players in the world last season, and one might think thatFIFAwould have upped his rating, but he stays at 89. Alisson has an impressive 90 positioning, 89 reflexes, 86 diving, and 85 in both kicking and handling.

2Manuel Neuer (90)

Manuel Neuer was able to enjoy another trophy-laden season with his club, Bayern Munich. The club won the Bundesligaand the DFB Super Cub after beating RB Leipzig in a thrilling game that ended 5-3. Individually, Neuer had another impressive season, as he finished joint-top in the clean sheets table. Neuer helped the club to reach the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, where they were knocked out by a tenacious Villarreal team.

With Bayern Munich buying several new players, they will be hoping that they claim the prestigious Champions League once again. Neuer will also be participating in the FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in November. This gives him another shot at claiming the most prestigious trophy in the footballing world. Neuer has a rating of 90, which is the same as last year. Neuer has 91 in positioning, 91 in kicking, 88 in handling, and 88 in reflexes.

1Thibaut Courtois (90)

In the Champions League final, Courtois made a record-breaking 9 saves, which ensured that Real Madrid would emerge as champions against Liverpool.

After last season, Courtois has cemented his place as the best goalkeeper in the world, andFIFAhas upgraded his rating from 89 to 90. Courtois' highest rated attributes are 90 reflexes, 89 positioning, 89 handling, and 84 diving.
