Backpack Battles’vast array of items is just one of many aspects that makeit a strategicandrewarding auto-battler. However, not all the game’s items are created equal; some items are only useful in specific situations, whereas others are almost always a handy addition.
Every item inBackpack Battleshas its uses, but these are just some of the items that pack the most punch. From the ubiquitously helpful Piggybank to the versatile Mana Orb, these items provide helpful support for a wide array of builds.

Effect:
Start of battle: Gain 1 Spike(s).
Spikes are one of the more powerful buffs inBackpack Battles, allowing players to deal consistent levels of damage with defensive builds. However, players don’t need to fully commit to Spikes in order to make use of them.
The Walrus Tusk grants the player a solitary Spike at the start of battle, but it’s also a key ingredient for the Spiked Shield and Tusk Poker. Both of these items are easy to craft and can be a massive boon in the early game. Spiked Shields and Tusk Pokers can be useful in the late-game, but they’re also easy to pivot from.

Every 4s: Gain 1 Spike(s) and heal for 3.
This spiky food is particularly powerful when surrounded byother food itemsand used in conjunction with other Spike-focused items such as Bloodthorne. The Pineapple is a useful addition to any food-focused build.

Pineapples don’t output many Spikes, so without other food items to speed up its effect, which takes four seconds to trigger by default, a Pineapple can be dead in the water. However, with the right combination of items, a Pineapple or two can make all the difference.
A Tiny Item That Packs A Punch
Starred Items gain a 5% critical hit chance for each Luck.
This Ranger-specific item only takes up one slot, making it easy to fit into many builds, but it’s best used with Luck-focused strategies. This is thanks to its powerful effect, which grants a 5% bonus critical hit chance for each stack of Luck the player has.

This item is particularly powerful when combined with the Ranger’s Mega Clover, Lucky Piggies, and Luck-focused weapons, such as Fortuna’s Grace. The Acorn Collar can also be useful in other builds, as its small size makes even the smallest critical-hit bonus worthwhile.
A Powerful Inventory Extension
Add 4 backpack slots. First Potion inside consumed: Gain a random buff. 4 Potions inside consumed: Cleanse 4 debuffs.
Backpack Battlesfeatures a handful of items that allow players to expand their backpack, allowing them to fit in more items and weapons. The Potion Belt is arguably one of the best inventory extensions, despite its semi-awkward shape.

This is because of the Potion Belt’s effect, which allows the player to not only gain a random buff but also cleanse debuffs. This powerful effect, combined with the four extra backpack slots, makes the Potion Belt a particularly useful inventory extension.
A Slot Machine Of Powerful Gems
Shop entered: Generate a low-quality gemstone. Gemstones are offered in the shop.
Taking the Box Of Riches can besomewhat of a gamble. The gems generated when entering the shop aren’t guaranteed to be useful for the player’s specific build, and the gemstones offered in the shop can be of all kinds of quality.

However, the low-quality gemstones that the Box Of Riches generates can be combined if they’re of the same type. Furthermore, if the Box Of Riches generates gems that the player doesn’t need, they can always sell them for a tidy profit.
An Economic Boon
Shop entered: Gain 1 Coin. Start of battle: Gain 2 maximum health for each Starred start of battle item.
This ubiquitously helpful economic boon helps players securea financial advantagein the early game. Furthermore, if players are inclined to do so, the Piggybank can be broken with a Hammer to get some quick cash.

The Piggybank’s effect also grants the player maximum health when combined with the right items. While this effect isn’t game-changing, it can make all the difference in the early game. As well as this, the Piggybank can be combined with two Lucky Clovers to create a Lucky Piggy, which itself can be useful in Luck-focused builds.
Anti-Stun For High-Damage Builds
Start of battle: Reduce damage taken by 25% for 3s. 15% chance to prevent a hit from being critical. 15% chance to prevent being stunned.
This small, handy piece of armor is almost always a helpful addition to a player’s backpack. This item protects players from being stunned or critically hit and dramatically improves the player’s survivability in the first three seconds of combat.

However, the Cap Of Resilience is most useful with glass cannon builds. Getting stunned or hit with high-damage attacks in the first few seconds of combat can spell the end of many glass cannon strategies, so the Cap Of Resilience can help mitigate some of the risks associated with them.
Start of battle: Gain 2 Vampirism and 20 Maximum Health.

This small item is a key ingredient for any Vampirism-focused build. The Blood Amulet is necessary to craft such items as the Vampiric Armor, the Bloody Dagger, Blood Goobert, and Vampiric Gloves.
Because of this, the Blood Amulet is a massively versatile item and almost always worth purchasing when seen in the shop. By itself, the Blood Amulet provides solid support in the early game with its maximum health boost, and players can always sell it later down the line if the right items don’t show.

Every 5s: Heal for 4 and Regenerate 1 Stamina.
There is an abundance of food inBackpack Battles, but it could be argued that none are as helpful as the Banana. Although food items such as Blueberries can be a massive help in certain situations, the Banana is a helpful item for many strategies.
Bananas are necessary for providing Stamina regeneration in the early game, and even through to the mid-late game. They can also be combined with Heroic Potions to create Strong Heroic Potions, one of the best ways to restore Stamina.
An Important Ingredient For Late-Game Gear
Starred Item Activates: 50% Chance to Gain 1 Mana. Use 30 Mana: Gain 12 Random Other Buffs
This magical item is a great way to gain Mana in of itself, and its effect works well with other items such as the Wolpertinger. However, the Mana Orb’s most powerful use case is as an ingredient for a handful of powerful late-game items.
The Mana Orb is a necessary ingredient for weapons such as the Manathirst, Spectral Dagger, and Magic Staff. Furthermore, the Mana Orb can be used to create the powerful Moon Armor and Moon Shield, making it one of the most versatile ingredients in the game.
