SpongeBob SquarePantswas huge in the 90s and it’s the one Nickelodeon show that has persisted since its heyday whereas a lot of other NickToons went cold after a few seasons. The appeal is in the writing with tons of classic jokes both kids and adults can enjoy. It’s safe to say that fans enjoy the earlier seasons the most, just like the hardcore fans of The Simpsons who swear by the early seasons.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, as a game, feels like an early-season concept thanks to the witty banter between the characters. It may not be as good of a platformer asSpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, but at least it is funny. Getting the original voice actors helps a lot. There will be some early spoilers for the first few worlds of the game in this exploration of some of the best quotes.
8“I Forgot Something, I Forgot Something!”
One ofSpongeBob’s biggest catchphrasesis repeatedly saying “I’m ready” to psyche himself up. That’s how this game begins except the conventional line has a twist put on it. He has to run back to his house because he forgot something.
He needed to grab his Glove World hat, which has been seen before in the cartoon. The idea of a glove having a world dedicated around it is weird, but this is a zany cartoon from the 90s.

7“Who Would Have Thought That A Magic Potion From A Mysterious Fortune Teller In A Sketchy Wagon Would Backfire?”
This is one of many great lines from Patrick who often states the obvious. This is just after Madame Kassandra explains the situation that the jelly SpongeBob used to blow bubbles caused a rift to open up. This sends his friends and the rest of Bikini Bottom into alternate dimensions.
2022 was filled with crossover multidimensional media fromDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnesstoBayonetta 3.SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shakeis proof that the multiverse train is not ending anytime soon.

6“You Have To Fix This Before Someone Besides Me Can Take Advantage Of This Chaos.”
Plankton says this line to SpongeBob, which is a wink to the camera. He’s often the bad guy in the games which fits. Plankton is one of the best villains the show has seen besides the few times whereSpongeBob goes evil.

Is this line a hint of things to come later in the game? Will Plankton rise up and indeed take advantage of the situation or will some other character become villainous as a twist? Let’s not spoil the surprise here.
5“Like A Cucumber That Hurts Your Mouth When You Eat It!”
In the Old West-inspired world,Wild West Jellyfish Fields, SpongeBob, and Patrick have to track down Mr. Krabs. This eventually leads the pair to a cactus soda bar, but the sheriff, who is an alternate version of Sandy, explains that the soda supply has been low.
Patrick doesn’t seem to like cactuses at all, which prompts him to say this hilarious line. Good luck getting the idea out of your head that cactuses and cucumbers are similar. Who came up with that thought in the writer’s room?

4“It’s Always About Money!”
After the pair rescue Mr. Krabs and bring him back to the main reality, SpongeBob asks him if he learned a lesson. Mr. Krabs explains that he didn’t learn a lesson about his villainous deeds to horde cactus soda for profit at all. To him, money is a way of life that fits with his cartoon personality.
Mr. Krabs does admit that he learned not to ever take his Employee of the Month, aka SpongeBob, for granted ever again though. That’s as close as Mr. Krabs gets to a sentimental thought in the game.

3“I Know Everyone Would Love To Be Eating Out Of A Bucket Right Now, But The Fate Of The Universe Is Currently Hanging In The Balance.”
Madame Kassandra is a new character for the game although mermaids like her have been seen before. SpongeBob and Patrick first meet her at Glove World where SpongeBob gets the magical bubble goop that sends Bikini Bottom intoa multiverse adventure.

Madame Kassandra says this line right after SpongeBob helps Plankton fix the Chum Bucket. The line is great if one thinks about the idea of eating food out of a bucket. Is the idea of eating out of buckets the ultimate dream for foodies who want to be fed like pigs in a trough?
2“What Squirt Of An Actor Did Those (Dolphin Noises) At The Agency Lay Upon Me?”
The second world SpongeBob and Patrick visit is based on a movie set. An alternate version of Squidward, Squid Van Hammerschmidt, is directingan action movie. When he sees SpongeBob, he is immediately upset that the studio sent him someone scrawny. He even makes the dolphin noise which is the sound effect the cartoon uses whenever they cover up a swear word.
It’s one of those jokes that’s added in for the adults in the room, which makes the cartoons, andSpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, accessible for everyone. What did Squid Van Hammerschmidt really say about the agency?

1“I Found Craft Services!”
What’s the best part about working on a movie, or a TV show? Being able to take advantage of craft services. That is perhaps not the ultimate goal for actors, but it’s what Patrick wanted in the game. He randomly appears with a donut and shouts this line at SpongeBob.
The donut looks straight out of The Simpsons, which is a cartoon known for drawing donuts deliciously. This cartoon often has scrumptious-looking food like the fabled Krabby Patty.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shakewas released on July 31, 2025, and is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
