Summary
Bloons TD 6advertises itself as a cute tower defense game for kids to love. The adorable monkeys, the brightly-colored balloons, and the lively maps all give players the impression that victory should be a relatively fun and easy process.
Beating the game’s hardest modes requires a level of placement precision and resource management that other tower defense games balk at. For players hoping to complete all the achievements on the toughest maps, they’ll require the services of only thebest heroes inBloons TD 6. And some of those heroes just plain aren’t worth the cash it takes to unlock them.

Updated on January 30th, 2025, by Chris Harkin:There are still many updates coming to Bloons TD 6 of different sorts. With new powers, a new tower paragon, and many balance changes coming in the latest update, the ordering of which heroes are the best across the many different maps and difficulties has changed once more. The constant balancing in a strategically focused game like Bloons TD 6 makes for a lot of continuous changes that need to be made. As players learn of and abuse certain situations or abilities, Ninja Kiwi has continued to work for seven years on balancing the game so it remains in the best state possible for all to enjoy. With more heroes likely to appear in the future, this article will continue to receive updates to stay caught up with the latest shifts.
16Ezili
Voodoo Monkey
To start with the obvious, Ezili requires sacrifices, and this makes her unusable on many maps with higher difficulty. Her lack of availability isn’t helpful. However, players searching specifically for a hero to tackle some easier maps may want to try her out and see if they can get the hang of her abilities.
Furthermore, she can curse MOABs, but some heroes can instantly kill MOABs and do even more in terms of support. Ultimately, the tough break for Ezili is that, unlike other heroes at the bottom of the list, it’s tough to envision a situation in which she shines above anyone else. This leaves her at a bit of a loose end, and since receiving initial nerfs upon release, Ezili has never quite caught up to the pack.

15Admiral Brickell
Naval Commander
The first weakness for Admiral Brickell is a fairly steep one; she has to be placed in water. If the water is non-existent or in a bad place, then she is useless. However, on some water-heavy maps, it used to be well worth switching the player’s hero to Brickell, since she was a particularly strong and useful character in her element.
Unfortunately, over time, Brickell has received nerfs that negate this advantage that made it worth switching. Nowadays, she is an infrequently used hero that doesn’t match up to the huge damage and advantages still given by others, even on extremely water-based maps.

14Captain Churchill
Tank
There are two major downsides to Captain Churchill. First is that he requires a map that has a long, straight line, and these are extremely rare as maps get more complicated in the game. This often leaves players disqualifying Churchill based on his lack of usefulness on high difficulties, as switching heroes while leveling up to harder maps is a challenge.
The second issue is that he’s pricey. His damage is actually good, but when weighing investment costs, gamers will likely find they get more out of upgrading towers unless they’re in one of those straight-line map situations. Heroes are based on experience and leveling up over time inBloons TD 6, so having a hero like Churchill that players have to wait a longer time to place makes the start of the game harder, meaning it takes him longer to get to a high level.

13Gwendolin
Pyromaniac
As a leader-board topper soon afterBloons TD 6was released, Gwendolin has obviously taken a bit of a tumble. However, what made her special is still there. Placed up front, she can put damage over time effects on the opposition, something that is extremely useful against certain types of bloons.
In very late-game scenarios, her damage increases exponentially from this. With a few levels, she can support nearby towers to help her do what she does. On maps that seem simple until the final few waves, she can still be of some assistance. Gwendolin is of the “basic” class of heroes but is still very useful at times.

12Quincy
Sharp-Shooting Archer
Many heroes inBloons TD 6are great later on but struggle early with certain aspects or types of bloons. Quincy is exactly the opposite. He’s one of the best early heroes and gets camo targeting extremely early on. So, if players are struggling to get to wave ten, they might want to attempt to make use of a hero like Quincy.
Unfortunately, he falls into the average category rather quickly and becomes negligible in the late game, as his arrows really aren’t able to do the kind of damage players will be looking for from their hero against MOAB-class bloons in particular.

11Striker Jones
Artillery Commander
Striker Jones has a pretty nice transition from early to late game. Although few would argue he’s the best at either, he’s got some great area damage early and then can be used to buff Mortar Towers and Bomb Shooters later, which can be useful if players intend to work with these towers in particular.
Several heroes are reasonably strong but become much more so by players who work alongside their buffs and extras. Striker Jones hasn’t got enough attack to make him worth choosing unless players have a particularly explosive strategy in mind for their other towers.

10Rosalia
The Jet-Packing Tinkerer
The newest hero to be introduced toBloons TD 6is Rosalia, a jetpacking hero with a laser gun and plenty of grenades in her arsenal. While she has come into the game as a huge new option for a hero, she isn’t as overpowered as some heroes have been in their initial form, and nerfs since she was introduced have now reduced her usefulness a little further.
Still, Rosalia is a great choice for a number of situations. She levels up quickly and gains a lot of power for her various attacks as she does so, making her incredibly powerful as an offensive force by the time she gets above level 10. She also gives a variety of discounts, particularly to helicopters and monkey aces, making these a great strategy to use alongside her.

9Pat Fusty
Giant Monkey
Gamers who want their towers to be the focal point will like that Pat Fusty brings support to the table. As a hero himself, he’s a bit underwhelming. But as a support unit, he’s tough to beat and might be the best hero depending on the player’s tower preference. He can be placed on land or water in addition to instantly killing MOAB targets.
Pat can both slow down and knock back bloons, giving him a huge advantage in just slowing rounds down. This is a useful ability in the late game, and additionally, his abilities and focus on empowering low-damage towers can be used for great strategies involving towers like Grandmaster Ninja and Sun Avatars.

8Etienne
Drone Operator
Etienne is a hero who goes from relatively poor to amazing at level ten when he unlocks the UCAV that can fly all over the map. He can also make it so that every tower can see camo bloons, simplifying the strategy for gamers who don’t want to bury money just in handling these nasty opponents.
Etienne comes with different types of attacking drones, including an extremely powerful one a little later in the game. While players do have to rush him to at least the point where he can detect camo if they intend to focus on his abilities for detection, Etienne is worth the early effort.

7Psi
Psionic Monkey
At early levels, Psi is like a weak sniper tower. He’s slower, but his range is limitless, and he can strike down camo balloons. But gamers who haveinvested in the right Monkey Knowledgeand purchased his upgrades will be well-rewarded.
With the click of a button, he can destroy everything on the map. Experts who can cover the earlier waves will find that Psi can be the hero that beats those maps that throw out almost impossible waves.
