When players hop into a newCall of Dutygame, they know what to expect from its Trophy list. Usually, those experienced with first-person shooters will have a fairly easy Platinum on their hands, with the difficulty being directly tied to the game’sVeteran modeand how challenging it is. Players will have to complete some random campaign tasks, test out the co-op mode, and get to the first Prestige level in multiplayer.

While having a predictable Trophy list is hardly a big issue, it does little to helpCall of Duty’s reputation of being too formulaic and repetitive, as each year’s game having an overly similar list can get tiring. This is not to say that the franchise should go overboard with overly tough Trophies like “The Sum of all Zeros” fromWorld at War, nor should it ask players to master niche modes like Dead Ops Arcade. However, it should do something new by introducing a continuously growing Trophy list, leaning into the multiplayer mode that stands asCall of Duty’s bread and butter.

Call of Duty 2024’s Trophy List Can Grow With The Game

WithTreyarch’s nextCall of Dutygame, the series can adopt a new approach for its Trophies, looking to games likeOverwatch 2andMinecraftfor inspiration. In those games, players will be able to unlock new Trophies whenever there is a major update. InOverwatch 2’s case, new heroes releasing means a few more achievements to earn. ForMinecraft, major updates see players getting to hunt down additional Trophies by testing out all the fresh features from the patch.

WithCall of Duty’s seasonal approach, it has the perfect way to segment its bonus Trophies. Alongside the main list, which could have the usual Veteran campaign and Zombies Main Quest Trophies to unlock,Call of Duty2024 can have a small set of DLC Trophies for each of its post-launch Seasons. Considering thatCall of Duty2024 will feature the return of Treyarch’s round-based Zombies mode, it can tie seasonal Trophies to DLC maps. However, it should not stop with co-op.

Call of Dutymultiplayer is why the franchise has become a household name, and in 2024 Treyarch can double down on this by adding Trophies based on all the multiplayer additions to the FPS. When a new map is added, players could unlock a Trophy asking them to find a side Easter egg within that map, motivating casual gamers to look for the fun secrets that developers put in the effort to add. Players could receive Trophies for defeating newDMZbosses, unlocking seasonal weapons, and winning matches in post-launch multiplayer game modes.

By going the route of DLC Trophies, Treyarch could also include a set of achievements for high skill activities that most players do not have the time or expertise to complete. Unlocking every mastery camo, getting each calling card, leveling up multiple times in ranked mode, winningGunfight Tournaments, and reaching the highest possible prestige at the end of the game’s lifespan are all possibilities. If these Trophies are additional unlocks and not part of the main lineup, they would not block players off from the Platinum, and would only serve as an extra reward for those that put plenty of time into the game.

While there is a chance thatCall of Duty2024 sticks to the usual formula for its Trophies, that being a large lineup of campaign achievements alongside some basic Zombies and multiplayer tasks, it would be nice to see something new. While the usual achievement types can stick around, they should be accompanied by more challenging and unique objectives as the Seasons progress. Whether it is gathering batches of Outbreak intel or moving through the RC-XD track of an inevitableNuketownvariant, hopefully Treyarch will recognize the untapped potential of post-launch Trophies inCall of Duty. If it embraces them, gamers will have one more goal to grind for.
