There could be other explanations as to whyBlack Ops 2player count has spiked. Besides the server issues being resolved,Black Ops 2is heavily discounted as part of the Xbox Ultimate Game Sale. Since the game is still listed at a whopping $49.99 as its regular price, being able to get it for just $14.99, a 70% discount, is a massive steal.Black Ops 2usually climbs up the Xbox sales charts whenever it goes on sale, so that could very well be another reason why so many people are playing the game right now.
Black Ops 2isn’t the only old-schoolCall of Dutygame who is enjoying a comeback of sorts. Reports have indicated that the multiplayer populations for both the 2009Modern Warfare 2andthe firstBlack Opsgameare quite healthy right now as well. It’s hard to say how long this old-schoolCall of Dutycomeback will last, so anyone feeling nostalgic will want to give them a try as soon as possible.
WithMicrosoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard nearing completion, it’s possible oldCall of Dutygames will come to Xbox Game Pass. This could also fuel a spike in their player counts, and ensure that they are played for years to come.
