There has been no shortage of bugs insideCall of Duty: Warzone 2since it went live in November 2022, and its latest involving the Recon Drone may be among the most game-breaking due to how it is pinging opposing players almost endlessly. It comes days after a glitchallowingWarzoneplayers to drive underwaterwithout consequence, joining a slew of bugs and problems players have been hoping will get fixes when the next season of content begins. However, the unfair advantage this Recon Drone glitch is giving players may end up forcing Infinity Ward to address them much sooner.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2is the sequel to Call of Duty’s popular free-to-play battle royale and launched roughly two weeks after the release ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.Warzone 2moved the chaotic battle royale from the Eastern European city of Verdansk to the Middle Eastern-inspired region of Al Mazrah for players to fight and survive inside. Alongside the solo and team modes, it also brought with it the new DMZ mode for players looking for its twist on PvPvE and providing another route to earn usable gear inWarzone 2andModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer.

The aforementioned bug has been making the rounds on social media as players highlight the advantage the brokenRecon Dronegives them while in use. YouTuber CaponeSlays showcased the bug in action, deploying a drone near the end of a match to locate any remaining players inside the ever-shrinking zone. After pinging two opposing players, the ping remained active for the remainder of the game and highlighted the opposing players exact movements.

It isn’t the first time this kind of bug has found its way intoCall of Duty’s multiplayer, with a similarbug plaguingModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer at launch. Quick-fingered players could ping an opposing player who killed them in a gunfight and, after respawning, found the ping remained active and allowed them to track down said player in hopes of getting a revenge kill. It was inadvertently promoted with the addition of a new revenge kill medal in multiplayer.

Warzone 2players could argue that this Recon Drone bug is worse, though, as it allows players to ping and track multiple opponents within range of the drone after it has been deployed. On top of that, it could potentially swing the outcome of a match when down to the final few players if a player using it can deploy it when the zone is roughly the same size as the drone’s effective range. It is now a question of how quickly Infinity Ward will look to address this glitch which, given the unfair advantage it provides, could end up forcing the studio to act sooner than it would for some of other bugs still at work insideAl Mazrah.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
