Long has the game been filled with rumors of nuclear devastation, undead invasion, and other climatic endings to Verdansk. While most of these rumors go unwarranted, zombies may actually be in the future ofCall of Duty: Warzone’sstory.
Call of Duty: Warzonehas weaved its narrative withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.While the 1960s title is currently exploring an active gas threat in Verdansk, there is an evolving Zombie threat brewing in the game’s background. This threat may eventually emerge within Verdansk as either a short event or a season worth of undead carnage.

In a Tweet posted by EricMaynardIII, theCall of Duty: Warzonefandiscovered aCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombiesTrial Machine in the hospital. Based on the image, the player could not only investigate it, but they could interact with it to cause some unknown reaction. This machine appears inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies mode, where it allows players to trade in points for rewards. Considering that the machine usually only collects Zombies points, it has sparked rumors in the community that undead may be coming.
Zombies are a long-requested feature intheCall of Dutybattle royale experience. After their successful appearance inCall of Duty: Black Ops 4’sBlackout mode, players have awaited the day when they would appear within the Verdansk operation. Zombies could easily drop loot, open up new tactical possibilities, and push players into a more competitive battle royale experience.
While the machine is interesting, it is still far from a confirmation of an undead invasion. Activision and Treyarch have not announced any formal additions to the game, but an update is known to be coming.Call of Duty: WarzoneSeason 2is filled with possibilities, and the rise of an undead horde could easily be one of those many options.

WithRebirth Island being a facility that manufactures the poison gas, some players argue that the upcoming season will only expand the Nova 6 plot rather than add in the undead. Despite this, community hope is still leaning towards a zombie invasion, as it could easily bring Verdansk to a new level of tactical and intense gunplay.
