While manyCall of Duty: Warzonefans have been waiting patiently for the debut of Caldera, they are going to need to hold out a bit longer. Today, Activision announced a delay ofCall of Duty: VanguardSeason 1, which includes the highly anticipatedCall of Duty: Warzonemap.
The new release date for Season 1 is December 8, one week later than what was originally planned. This will be when early access to Caldera is opened as well, withCall of Duty: Vanguardowners getting to play the map 24 hours early. ForCall of Duty: Warzoneplayersthat do not ownCall of Duty: Vanguard, Caldera will enter open access on December 9. No details were provided as to why the delay has happened, though it could be as simple as Raven Software needing a bit more time to ensure that the integration withVanguardgoes smoothly.

In the Tweet announcing the delay, Activision provided players with an updatedroadmap forCall of Duty: VanguardSeason 1. Shipment now reads as being available now, as the hectic multiplayer map was added through a patch that released earlier this week. The “Last Days of Verdansk” content will extend through December 8, meaning that players could get some more time with the popular LTM Operation Flashback. Everything that was originally planned to drop on December 2 will now release on December 8.
ForCall of Duty: Vanguardplayers, Season 1 will be introducing a brand-new Battle Pass. Players can expect the usual lineup of weapon blueprints, Operator skins, and finishing moves. New cosmetics like highlight intros are likely to feature as well, with XP tokens, charms, and calling cards helping to fill out the other tiers. Sledgehammer Games has promised three more multiplayer maps as well as three additional Operators, all of which will also be usable inside ofCall of Duty: Warzone. New weapons will be added, as well as a new objective and more covenants for Zombies.
While Caldera is obviously the main attraction of the now-delayedCall of Duty: WarzonePacific, all of the World War 2-themed weaponry should also be exciting to experiment with. Dogfighting should prove interesting, with proper aerial combat and planes being a first for the popular battle royale title. With the fan favorite Plunder mode also confirmed to return later in the Season, and Ricochet anti-cheat set to be fully implemented, there is plenty to be excited about come December.
While a one-week delay is a bit of a letdown, as some players have been wanting tomove on from Verdanskfor a while now, it is still relatively brief. As such,Call of Duty: Warzone’s next big chapter is still right around the corner.
