1Knuckle
Stubborn Fool Who Shows Empathy To Anyone In His Path
As a student of Morel, Knuckle is a promising hunter capable of becoming one of the strongest Nen users through his ability, Hakoware. Knuckle plays a vital role inthe extermination team during the group’s palace invasion, putting up enough of a fight against Chimera Ant royal guard Menthuthuyoupi. Knuckle’s primary attributes as a character are his stubbornness and empathy for others.
In a spinoff focused solely on Knuckle, the character could showcase the star qualities that make him unique, alongside his comedic viewpoint of the world and others, making for an entertaining spinoff.
2Mizaistom
Member Of The Zodiacs Keen On Serving Justice
Mizaistom is a member of the Hunter Association’s Zodiac group, tasked with overseeing hunter rules and regulations.Of all the Zodiacs, Mizaistom is one of the most level-headed, with many of the others seemingly finding their role as a Zodiac exhausting. Mizaistom’s rise to the top of the Hunter Association came from his work as a crime hunter, with Mizaistom having a keen sense of justice.
A spinoff series following the adventures of Mizaistom would entail his day-to-day work as a crime hunter as he hunts down notorious criminals within theHunter x Hunterworld.
3Leorio
Kind-Hearted Fool On Track To Become A Doctor
Known for being the comedic relief character ofHunter x Hunter, Leorio features prominently enough to be established as one of the main protagonists. Despite Leorio’s stubbornness and short fuse, his heart is full of gold, with the character being a helpful and supportive friend toGon Freecss, Killua Zoldyck, and Kurapika.
As a hunter, Leorio’s goal is to become a doctor, with the fresh-faced rookie hoping to aid people in need who are unable to afford healthcare. In a potential Leorio story, his development as a doctor under Zodiac member Cheadle could be the focus, with the character’s foolish and boisterous demeanor making for an entertaining concept that sees him as the star he deserves to portray.
4Killua Zoldyck
Young Assassin Who Changes His Outlook On Life Thanks To His Friendships
Being the star sibling of the Zoldyck family,Killua is pushed to extreme limits, with his family manipulating him into the ways of assassinhood. After befriending Gon, Killua travels the world with his best friend as the character breaks out of the cold-blooded cycle the Zoldyck family imposes on him. Throughout many different arcs, Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika bring the best out of Killua, developing the character into a kind-hearted soul.
During the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc, Killua saves Alluka, his younger sibling, from the terrors of his family, showcasing his newfound care for others. In a new adventure, with Alluka by his side, Killua would continue his travels despite Gon’s absence, further developing his and Alluka’s relationship. A series about Killua could lead the young assassin to learn the origins of his younger sibling and their power, Nanika, potentially leading the pair to the Dark Continent.
5Kurapika
Chain User Intent On Reclaiming His Brethren’s Scarlet Eyes
InHunter x Hunter’s current Succession Contest arc, Kurapika is the main protagonist, with the character deeply entrenched in the Kakin Prince war. With the destruction of the Kurta Clan and the distribution of their scarlet eyes, Kurapika’s goal has been to seek revenge and reclaim his brethren’s eyes. In the Yorknew City arc, Kurapika works as a mafia bodyguard when he faces the Phantom Troupe, the bandits who wiped out his clan.
Further intoHunter x Hunter, Kurapika grows into a dark and obsessed individual who leaveshis friends behind to pursue his goal. A potential spinoff would continue from the succession war, with Kurapika continuing his solo mission to disrupt the mafia world by reclaiming all of his comrades' eyes and restoring honor to himself and his clan. As he continues his fight, Kurapika can descend further down a path of destruction that tears his humanity away.
6Hisoka
Magician Who Becomes The Phantom Troupe’s Top Target
Throughout the protagonists' adventures, Hisoka is a constant thorn in their side. The flamboyant magician teases individuals to occupy himself while he waits to fight opponents at their peak. Hisoka’s motives are solely based on battling the most potent fighters, and he is keen on disrupting any relationships to indulge himself in battle.
Such toying around occurred when Hisoka worked with Kurapika to set upa fight with Phantom Troupe leader Chrollo Lucilfer, despite acting as a member for a couple of years. Much can be explored in a series that follows Hisoka, such as his background and how this creepy individual turned out to be one of the most menacing and ominous Nen users alive.
7Chrollo Lucilfer
As the leader of the famed Phantom Troupe, Chrollo is one of the most notorious criminals in the world ofHunter x Hunter, with his group being feared among all sectors of society. From a very young age,Chrollo has been intent on disrupting power playersas revenge for the death of his dear childhood friend Sarasa in Meteor City. With Chrollo and the troupe’s challenging upbringing, Chrollo seeks to destroy anyone that gets in his way, with Kurapika and Hisoka even being a target of Chrollo and his group.
For a complex character such as Chrollo, much of his upbringing can be explored to fully understand how he and his friends survived the horrors of Meteor City and how it shaped him into the man he is in the present. Another aspect that could be examined in a spinoff is his journey east after Kurapika stripped him of his Nen. Much of his trek to regaining his powers could intrigue many who wish to understand Chrollo and his motives without the troupe being by his side.
8Ging Freecss
Gon’s Father Who Seeks To Travel The World And Have Fun
InHunter x Hunter, no character is more elusive than Ging Freecss, the father of the main protagonist, Gon. From the very start of the story, Gon’s goal is to find his Dad, who abandoned him to live his life as a hunter. Ging has left a significant impression on all he meets on his travels, with many telling Gon of his prowessas a hunter and a Nen user. Much ofHunter x Hunterdepicts Gon in his search for his father, with the task proving difficult despite Ging’s leaving clues for Gon to ponder.
With Ging’s notoriety and legend, a spinoff could showcase his early life as a hunter, similar to howHunter x Hunterfollows Gon and his journey. Just as Ging passed the hunter exam at the same age as Gon, the themes would stay the same, with Ging’s friendships and motives being explained and explored extensively in any potential spinoff.
