Chris Hemsworth is ready to star in his fourthThorfilm withThor: Love and Thunder, which is ready to hit theatres in less than two weeks. Despite rumors of the upcoming film being his last outing as the God of Thunder, it appears the Marvel star is not ready to be done wielding Mjolnir.
Following the events of 2019’s climacticAvengers: Endgame,Thor: Love and Thundersees the return of Hemsworth as the God of Thunder while he is in search of inner peace and his true identity this time around. However, when a new enemy emerges, Thor is forced to recruit many allies to prevent the Galactic threat from eliminating all gods.

Thor’s appearance inLove and Thunderwill be the character’s fourth solo movie in the MCU, officially making him the first Avenger to accomplish such a feat. While Hemsworth’s portrayal of the titular hero continues to receive praise from critics and fans, the Australian actor became exhausted and underwhelmed playing the role. That is untildirector Taika Waititi hopped on boardto direct 2017’sThor: Ragnarok,which would turn out to be a much-needed turn for the character that established him as one of the MCU’s funniest and most likable heroes.
“[Working with Waititi] it’s something different each time, something fresh. And he’s a dear friend. He has the same sort of immature quality I was talking about. In the best way possible," Hemsworth said of Waititi. It seems this collaboration will last for many more MCU films. The actor’s comments about his director seem to ring true when it comes toThor: Love and Thunder, as it looks like Waititi and the whole team have carried over the same exciting energy from its predecessor to create another worthy installment in the ongoing cinematic universe.
Other than followingGorr the God Butcher(Christian Bale) on his mission of eliminating all gods in the universe, the film will also explore more of Valkyrie’s (Tessa Thompson) rule as the new king and showcase Portman’s Jane Foster taking up the mantle of the God of Thunder. Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill/Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy group will also play a smaller role.
Thor: Love and Thunderwill arrive in theatres on July 16, 2025.
