Halo Infinitehas done commendably well in providing a competent gameplay experience, in what is the very competitive and saturated market of first-person shooters. Despite its lauded and unique single-player combined with its recreation of the franchise’s iconic multiplayer experience, the game has come under fire for its lack of content at launch.

While it is true that, in its current state, the multiplayer ofHalo Infinitedoes not have a wide variety of additional content for players to enjoy, it is clear that 343 has big plans for post-launch content, across both multiplayer and campaign. With the post-launch content roadmap forHalo Infiniterecently being fully detailed by 343, the amount of scheduled content the game is set to receive in the near future is likely to please fans, at least in some ways.

Season 2: Lone Wolves

The seasons of Halo Infinite are much longer than most online shooters, at least so far, withInfinite’sseasons currently lasting a staggering six months each. Officially launching on May 3 and lasting all the way to November 7, Season 2 will bring in narrative events, maps, modes, and more. Some are upset with it lasting so long, as this means bigger pieces of content are likely spread out, but at least it’s not empty of content itself.

There are threenew game modes forHalo InfiniteSeason 2. This will see the introduction of King of the Hill, a territory-control mode called Land Grab, and a Battle Royale-esque mode called Last Spartan Standing. In addition to this, Season 2 will see the implementation of two new maps. The first is a forerunner-styled arena map named Catalyst, with the other being an expansive big team battle map by the name of Breaker.

The Lone Wolf seasonwill also be periodically complemented by narrative events, which will help add an interactive context and depth to the events of the season. While there isn’t a lot currently known as to what these upcoming narrative events will entail, the first will be called Interference, lasting from May 3 to 16, and the second is called Alpha Pack, lasting from July 19 to August 1.

Predictably, Season 2 ofHalo Infinitewill also include a fresh 100-tier Battle Pass, as is the norm with most multiplayer shooter seasons. This Pass will include earnable credits which can be put towards the next season’s Battle Pass, while also including a free armor core that’s ripe for further customization. This armor core, reportedly called Entrenched, will have a plethora of armor piece unlocks within the EntrenchedFracture Event, which will run from May 24 to 30.

Co-op Campaign, Mission Replay, and Forge for Halo Infinite

Fans can expect to see more than just changes toHalo Infinite’sPvP multiplayerduring the span of Season 2, with a multitude of campaign-centric content as well as updates for a highly anticipated Forge mode also being included within the recently revealedInfiniteroadmap. With this content being the brunt of what many players expected to see included withinHalo Infiniteat launch, many will be relieved to finally receive tangible updates in relation to it.

Within the roadmap, network campaign co-op is slated to release sometime around late August. With cooperative campaign being a staple of theHalofranchise, especially within the more challenging elements of theHalocampaign experiencesuch as the LASO challenge, it is good to finally get a concept as to whenInfinitewill receive co-op capability.

Another missing key feature toHalo Infinite’scampaign that many fans want to see is the ability to select and replay missions within the campaign. As it currently stands, once the more linear missions ofInfinitehave been completed, they cannot be replayed, meaning those searching for the manycollectibles ofHalo Infinite’sstoryhave to start entirely new save slots should they miss out on one. Individual mission replay capabilities are slated to come toInfiniteat the same time as network co-op, around late August.

Forge has historically proven itself to be an invaluable sandbox tool forHalomultiplayer. The Forge mode allows players to create their own maps and game modes, among other things, with someamazing creations being made via Forge in previousHalo’s. With just how of an invaluable tool Forge has become within the widerHalocommunity, it was another omission fromHalo Infiniteat launch that did not sit well with fans. As revealed in the roadmap, an open beta for Forge withinInfiniteis set to release in September.

Halo Infinite Season 3

Although far away and resultantly lacking in major detail,343’s long-anticipatedHalo Infiniteroadmapalso outlines a fair amount of information for Season 3 of the multiplayer. While currently unnamed, Season 3 is set to start on November 8 and will most likely run for six months in the same way Season 2 is set to. Unless there are significant changes, of course.

Season 3 is billed to offer a new wave of content in keeping with the type of content that Season 2 is about to bring with it. According to the roadmap, Season 3 will include its own 100-tier Battle Pass, new maps and game modes, new sandbox items, new narrative and fracture events, quality of life improvements, and a continuation of the Forge open beta. In terms of wholly unique content confirmed to release within Season 3’s timeframe, split-screen campaign co-op is billed to release during Season 3, with a more exact date to be announced in the near future.

Halo Infiniteis now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
