Twitchis notorious for handing out bans left and right, some of which the community feels are undeserved. Despite this, it still holds what is essentially a monopoly on the streaming industry, especially now after theunexpected Mixer shutdown. Through all of this drama, one controversial streamer, Ice Poseidon, is actually asking the company to revoke his permanent ban.
Ice Poseidon has a bizarre and storied history withTwitchand other streaming platforms and is best known for his antics during his “life streams.” In this streamer’s case, there is some indecision among viewers whether the ban was justified or not.

While streaming in an airport, Ice Poseidon made the unfortunate mistake of giving viewers information about this location and flight number. Armed with this information, one of his viewers called in a fake bomb threat under his name, aprocess known as swatting, which earned the streamer’s ban.
Following this incident, Ice Poseidon moved to streaming on YouTube, but that two years later had to stop streaming on that platform as well due to an FBI raid on his house in which all of his electronics were confiscated. Mixer seemed to be providing Ice Poseidon with a second (third?) chance, but now that Mixer has been bought by Facebook Gaming, he and otherMixer streamers like Ninjaare left with few options. It seems as though Ice Poseidon just can’t catch a break, and so he has turned to asking Twitch to revoke his permanent ban, claiming he’s changed for the better.
Ice Poseidon admits that he fostered a toxic community and that’s the reason why he was the victim of so many swatting attempts. His video above serves as an open statement asserting that he now has a better understanding of Twitch’s terms of service and believe that he deserves a second (fourth?) chance at streaming. Reactions to this are mixed as some feel he is selling out, desperate for a platform to stream on, while others feel as though he has been victim shamed into begging for reinstatement fromTwitch which many feel wrongfully banned himin the first place.
Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens. It isn’t often that Twitch revokes a permanent ban, but it certainly isn’t impossible. Even now, many are hoping that the company willunban Dr. Disrespect, who was recently banned for unknown reasons.
