Forming an empire is a great way to consolidate power over large regions, as well as unite multiple kingdoms under a single banner inCrusader Kings 3. There are a number of advantages to forming an empire, but players will first need to hold several Kingdom titles (or equivalent) in a specific region before they are able to create one. In addition to amassive amount of Prestige gainper title, players will also receive increases to their Domain Limit and maximum number of both Knights and Regiments. On top of that, players will gain a +60 Vassal Limit and +32 Scheme Resistance, making assassinations and misfortune less likely than at lower titles.
Once an empire has been formed, it brings its own set of challenges, and represents the ultimate end-game goal of any faction inCrusader Kings 3.While in-fighting and internal disputes may increase, it will become much easier to vassalize smaller nations and expand through the power of the occupied kingdoms. Some empires areharder to form than others, and players even have the chance to resurrect ancient and archaic empires from the past.

Creating A Title
Much like creating other titles, forming an empire can be done by clicking on a title’s emblem, and then seeing if it is a De Jure territory of a larger, unformed faction. For example, clicking on the Kingdom of England will show it to be a De Jure part of theEmpire of Brittania. Selecting the Empire of Britannia emblem will then show the requirements to form this empire, as well as all the territories contained within it.
Typically, empires will consist of 50 or more De Jure territories and will cost around 20 gold to form. It is worth noting that, as an empire, there will be considerably more claimants and factions arising that may seek to overthrow or disband the title altogether. It may also complicatematters of succession, so it is worth taking all of this into consideration and ensuring an heir is in place before creating an empire title.

Maintaining An Empire
Controlling an empire is much like controlling a Kingdom only on a much larger scale. Rather than overseeing Earldoms and Duchies, players will have to watch over several entire nations at once, and as a result, rebellions are often much more powerful withhigher numbers of regiments assembledby opposing forces. Players should ensure that their own nation’s military is among the strongest in their empire, or at least be on very good terms with several of the neighboring rules to ensure the empire does not fragment.
Financially, players will gain a lot more money from their overall holdings, since they will now be able to collect taxes from a larger range of settlements, this can lead to complacency with expenditure though, so always be mindful of the finances and don’t let that number get into the negatives. It is possible to rule over the De Jure territory of another empire, but players should be mindful that granting any vassals a title equivalent to Emperor, even in a significantly smaller territory, will cause them to break away and become independent.
