Summary
Demon Slayeris one of the most popular anime right now. The animation quality on display in this series is so impressive that people can’t get enough of the many breathing styles present in the series. The story focuses on Tanjiro, a tragic figure wholoses his entire family to Muzan’s brutal attack, with the sole survivor of Muzan’s assault turning into a demon whom Tanjiro cares for with all his heart.
After learning the basics of Water Breathing, Tanjiro faces off against multiple enemies and takes them out in style before realizing that he needs to step it up a notch. This allows him to channel the Sun Breathing techniques harbored in his bloodline, letting him enhance his power and fight against the Upper Rank Demon Moons that have terrorized humanity for ages.

Water Breathing
Sabito and Makomo are two characters whocome out of nowhere to motivate Tanjirowhen he needs to cut a boulder using nothing more than a sword. It’s a task that seems impossible for Tanjiro, but these two figures motivate him just enough to help him carry out this goal at the end.
It’s revealed later on that these two characters were killed by the Hand Demon, who devoured them and multiple others during the trial on Mount Fujikasane. Tanjiro wastes no time in taking revenge for their meaningless deaths, using the first form of Water Breathing to behead this monstrosity once and for all.

The battle against Rui is a turning point for Tanjiro. He’s pushed against the ropes time and time again, with Rui showingjust how out of his depth Tanjiro really is. It’s only when he whips out the Tenth Form of Water Breathing that Rui realizes he needs to get serious, augmenting his spider threads to ensure that Tanjiro is taken out for good.
What follows is a magical moment that draws more eyes toDemon Slayer, with Tanjiro remembering the ritual dance of his father, who was always sick yet managed to look as strong as ever during this dance. He channels these movements to invoke the power of Sun Breathing for the first time, turning the tide of battle against the Lower Rank Five. Sure, Giyu delivered the final move, but that shouldn’t take anything away from the excellence Tanjiro displayed to turn the tables against Rui.

3Second Form: Clear Blue Sky
Sun Breathing
The Mugen Train arc ofDemon Slayeris one of the finest pieces of storytelling in the series, The conflict initially starts off with Enmu coaxing the slayers into a dream from which they should’ve never woken up, only to have these plans thwarted by a mentally resilient Tanjiro and his demon sister.
After this, both Tanjiro and Inosuke decide to go towards the very front of the train, where they realize that the entire train is nothing more than a demon that Enmu has taken over. After a grueling battle where Tanjiro has to kill himself over and over again to get back to the realm of the living, he whips out the second form of Sun Breathing to behead this demon once and for all.

2Fifth Form: Setting Sun Transformation
Akaza is a demonwho’s been a thorn in the side of the demon slayers time and time again. Sure, his past may be marred in tragedy, but that is no justification for the heinous things he’s done ever since becoming a demon. The way he brutally murdered Rengoku is still fresh in the minds of fans who loved the Flame Hashira and the boundless energy he brought to battle.
During the Infinity Castle arc, Tanjiro and Giyu face off against Akaza in a battle for the ages. After a grueling confrontation, Tanjiro manages to exploit an opening, beheading Akaza with the Fifth Form of Sun Breathing. While Akaza’s body endures even after this fatal blow, this move is what causes Akaza to remember his past, rue his mistakes, and eventually lead to him accepting his death and ending the confrontation once and for all.

1Thirteenth Form
Thebattle against Muzan Kibitsujiis something that the series has been building up towards for quite some time. It will take a while for this confrontation to be animated, but there’s no denying that this battle is sure to blow everyone’s minds, especially when Tanjiro whips out the final form of Sun Breathing to take out the seven hearts and five brains his enemy’s body harbors.
The Thirteenth Form of Sun Breathing combines all previous forms in a dazzling spectacle of swordsmanship, carrying out every move at once to put Muzan on the ropes and ending his threat once and for all. It’s easy to see why fans can’t wait to see Ufotable add their own visual flair to this masterful title.
