After weeks of fishing,Destiny 2players can now embark on the latest exotic weapon quest, though a number of challenges have started to surface with the latest activity. Theweeks long Fishing Rally activity has finally come to an endand while it left many fans divided, it ultimately led to the Season of the Deep exotic quest line. However, before players can get started, they’ll need to acquire all three exotic fish from Nessus, The Throne World, and the European Dead Zone destinations. Thankfully, Destiny 2 has temporarily increased the odds of catching exotic fish at each location to give players a greater chance who may not have caught them already.
Once the Whispering Mothcarp fish, Vex Placoderm, and are caught, players need to return to the H.E.L.M. to release them into the tank. While they’ll receive a random exotic for each fish released, they’ll also obtain the necessary Broken Blade items to begin theexotic quest for the Wicked Implement Scout Rifleby venturing back into the Deep Dive seasonal activity. However, with matchmaking enabled, manyDestiny 2players have begun to run into a major flaw that is causing issues while attempting to finish the quest.

A new thread on theDestiny 2subReddit highlights the latest issue with the exotic quest and being matchmade into a fireteam of random players. As user naylorb points out, most people running Deep Dive missions are attempting to work on the exotic quest, however, many people are on different parts of the quest. What this means is that not everyone is going to understand where to go or attempt to help someone who may not be as far along, seeking to only get to the spot they need to go. Naylorb commented that as one person went to activate one of the statues, another member of the fireteam kept running and activated Toland’s orb instead of helping.
Part of the issue, besides the newly added exotic quest is that theDeep Dive activity has other secrets in it as well, so matchmade teams are more than likely to have divided interests now. Others in the comments agree with naylorb’s post, with some calling the activity a complete disaster, especially for those who want to run a normal Deep Dive. Others have suggested that Bungie add in a selector to better match like-minded people, while others continue to push for the use of LFG specific sites or theDestiny 2app for best results.
For those who are able to get through the quest, Wicked Implement is a stasis powered primary scout rifle that causes targets to get slowed after rapidly landing precision shots. Fans have already attempted to read between the lines to see if thisDestiny 2exotic mission is getting vaultedalong with the season or if it’ll be around throughout the rest of the year. With ties to Deep Dive as well as destination fishing, the community seems torn, unlikely the current Vexcalibur mission which is largely standalone.
