Summary

ManyDestiny 2players have been praising Bungie after a major change was discovered to exotic catalysts, making them much easier to unlock in Season of the Witch. As a live service title,Destiny 2players always have a lot of content to check out, whether its with the weekly ritual activities, playing through seasonal content, or hunting down the best rolls of various armor and weapons.Destiny 2also features harder to obtain itemsgoverned by RNG, such as Raid exotics or catalysts which randomly drop and have numerous requirements that need to be met before they can be applied to the associated weapon.

While someDestiny 2exotic catalysts are easier to find and unlock, there are many which have featured some extremely grind heavy and tedious requirements either by the amount of kills it required or a specific action to satisfy the challenge. For example, Leviathan’s Breath, Rat King, andPolaris Lance are weapons that the community continues to talk about being a massive grind. Eriana’s Vow and Ruinous Effigy are also much harder than they were back during their seasons, as they both had gameplay elements which helped speed the process along. Thankfully, Bungie has decided to fix the catalyst grind with Season of the Witch.

After the launch of Season 22 earlier this week, many fans logged intoDestiny 2only to be greeted by a flashing menu item for Catalysts. As it turns out, there were more than a few players who suddenly had some previously locked catalysts ready to complete, while others saw that the requirements for many hard to obtain ones were suddenly within reach. TheDestinysubReddit was alight with pleased fans, many thanking Bungie now that the struggle to acquire some of the harder ones was either complete or now much easier.

Looking at the Season of the Witch patch notes, Bungie did highlight the fact that it reworked a number ofdifficultDestiny 2catalyst objectivesto help standardize the unlock process. Many of the older exotics were adjusted, either by reducing the number of total kills needed, like Fighting Lion, Leviathan’s Breath, Eriana’s Vow, Legend of Acrius, Skyburner’s Oath, and Ruinous Effigy. Rat King now progresses through player usage instead of in a fireteam while Graviton Lance, Sunshot, and D.A.R.C.I. have had their perk kill requirements reduced as well.

Alongside many legacy and older catalysts getting updated, Season of the Witch also brings a brand new one for thearc grenade launcher exotic known as Ex Diris. The Hive themed weapon is great at crowd control thanks to the ability to spawn an enemy seeking moth after getting a kill as well as auto reloading from reserves, though for players who really want to supercharge the weapon, players will need to finish the Grenade Logic quest and then earn 400 kills with the weapon to unlock the catalyst.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
