For the last few days,Destiny 2players have been unsure of the fullworkings of the Empyrean Foundation eventbut today one important detail was confirmed. Players will want to wait until right before the Tuesday reset to pull all of their accrued Polarized Fractaline.
When Empyrean Foundation first launched, players could see that theTower Obeliskhad a storage of Polarized Fractaline based on the resonance of each Obelisk around the Solar System. At first, players considered pulling the Polarized Fractaline but then it became clear that the best idea was to continue upgrading each Obelisk and wait until the last minute to withdraw the Fractaline.

However, there were some concerns that the Tower Obelisk’s Polarized Fractaline stash would reset on Sunday rather than the normal Tuesday. Destiny 2 has had some issues with its resets when it comes to new activities, and soDestiny 2players were concerned that they might miss out on an opportunity to contribute to the Empyrean Restoration effort if they didn’t withdraw the Fractaline by Sunday. Luckily, that is not the case.
With that information, Destiny 2 players can now optimize their Empyrean Foundation efforts by spending the week upgrading Obelisks using Polarized Fractaline or the new Light Infused Fractaline consumable. They should do this until the last possible moment before the Tuesday reset (9am PT) and thenwithdraw all of the Polarized Fractalinethat is “banked” within the Tower Obelisk. Then either use that Fractaline to keep upgrading, or more realistically they should put that towards Empyrean Restoration.
Thus far, theDestiny 2community has completed three stages of the Empyrean Foundation, with 4 more to go. Based on calculations from members of the community, it willtakeDestiny 2players 2 years’ worth of effortto donate the necessary Fractaline to complete the Empyrean Restoration. However, players are assuming what the final numbers are for the next stages because Bungie has yet to disclose those thresholds. It could be that the devs are trying to evaluate how quickly (or slowly) players reach the next stages and are adjusting accordingly. Either way, it seems very likely that nothing is going to happen early.
What is supposed to happen based on datamines and rumors is that the Empyrean Foundation will restore Mercury to its former glory. This will accompany thereturn of Trials of Osirisas a focal point for Season of the Worthy starting in March.
