It’s that time of year again, asDestiny 2’s annual Moments of Triumph limited-time event acknowledges the heroic feats of those dedicated players who have spent the season completing every last bit of the game’s content. From now untilDestiny 2:The Final Shapereleases in June, players are given the chance to earn unique rewards exclusive to Moments of Triumph, including an appropriately themed Ghost and Sparrow.
Season of the Wishhas been confirmed to beDestiny 2’s last season, as Bungie plans to move the game into an episodic release format with the launch ofThe Final Shapeexpansion. As such, changing one longstanding tradition during Moments of Triumph might be in order, sinceDestiny 2will no longer be the same once its current season ends.
Iron Banner’s Current Schedule Has It Coming Back Twice More Before The Final Shape
Destiny 2’s Iron Banner mode would normally only rotate three times in a season, but withthe delay ofThe Final Shape, Season of the Wish has been extended to June and Iron Banner along with it. Season of the Wish’s third round of Iron Banner just ended on January 30th, but due to the season’s extended length, players will currently be given an opportunity to participate in the PvP mode twice more, once at the beginning of April and then again at the end of April through the beginning of May.

While many devoted players have likely already acquired all ofSeason of the Wish’s Iron Bannerrewards, others may have yet to scratch the surface, as the grind for Iron Banner rank often proves to be a long and arduous one. Thankfully, they will be given two more opportunities to work on their Iron Banner rank and earn the unique banner, Shader, and cosmetic rewards that come with it. Still, Bungie should consider making Iron Banner available at all times, at least untilThe Final Shapearrives, possibly even adding to its reward pool in the process.
Destiny 2’s Moments of Triumph Should See Iron Banner Available Throughout the Event
It would certainly be a drastic departure from tradition if Bungie were to open up Iron Banner to be available to players at all times throughout 2024’s Moments of Triumph, but if there’s any time for Bungie to make drastic moves inDestiny 2, it’sin the days leading up toThe Final Shape. Iron Banner could potentially be added to the current selection of PvP activities, allowing it to remain open to players even during Trials of Osiris. This could potentially result in an influx ofDestiny 2’s more hardcore players, some of whom have been known to leave the game between events like Iron Banner.
Furthermore, a more open availability for the event during Moments of Triumph would give Bungie a reason to add to Iron Banner’s reward pool, possibly introducing a new Shader, banner, and even ornaments on higher Iron Banner rank tiers. This would give players who have already acquired all of Season of the Wish’s current Iron Banner rewards justification for participating in the activity again, even if it does take a significant bit of extra grinding.
Iron Banner is one ofDestiny 2’s most beloved activities, so using this year’s Moments of Triumph as an excuse to make it more available would please the game’s loyal players, especially in light ofeverything riding onThe Final Shapewhen it launches in June. After all, Bungie appears to be radically changingDestiny 2’s formula and gameplay in the next expansion, so it might not be too out of the ordinary to shake up traditions even now.
