Summary
Destiny 2’s The Final Shape expansion is looming now more than ever after a dedicated showcase from Bungie revealed a lot of the new features coming with the DLC that marks the end of the 10-year Light and Darkness saga as players know it. A lot has changed in 10 years of the IP, withDestiny 2being a very different game than its predecessor could ever dream to be back then, with all sorts of gameplay additions and core shifts over the years. Recently, theDestiny 2sandbox saw a lot of reworksand new tools, from the Light 3.0 subclasses to Strand, and The Final Shape is set to add three new Supers and Aspects for each Light subclass, with the Warlock’s coming full circle.
This addition is not only motivated by a will to shake up the existing gameplay experience but also from a lore standpoint, withThe Final Shape taking place inside of The Traveler- and being so close to its heart will allow Guardians to harness new Light powers. It’s currently unknown what the names of each Super and Aspect will be, but Titans will finally enjoy a new ranged axe-throwing Super and Hunters will be able to blink to select destinations and perform swirling Arc dagger attacks among other things.

Destiny 2’s New Solar Soul Completes the Light Subclass Trifecta
Overall,Destiny 2’s Warlockshave seen their arsenal flourish with the new Light 3.0 subclasses, and a fan-favorite addition was that both Arc and Void got their so-called “buddies.” A community-made term, buddies are the Void Warlock’s Child of the Old Gods and the Arc Warlock’s Arc Soul, two Aspects that each provide an AI-governed companion that orbits around the Warlock and shoots enemies or performs attacks against them. These were immediately widely popular upon release, but some players were let down by the fact that Solar subclasses lacked their own buddy.
This is changing withDestiny 2’s The Final Shape, which will add a new Solar Warlock Aspect that allows Guardians to launch ranged attacks against enemies that will be Scorched and then explode if hit or defeated by this new Solar soul. This makes Light subclasses complete the original trifecta for Warlocks, and it provides them with a fun tool that can go to great lengths when it comes to reshaping the meta if done right, as the Child of the Old Gods and Arc Soul Aspects before it proved.

Destiny 2’s Solar Super For Warlocks in The Final Shape is a Familiar Tool
Not only that, however, Warlocks are also getting anew Final Shape Superthat resembles Radiance from the original game, minus the overwhelmingly powerful self-revive perk that made Warlocks so incredible in solo play or PvP. Still, Guardians will now be able to launch grenades inDestiny 2or shoot projectiles with much-increased effectiveness. Solar grenades will play out as if they were sentient, guiding the paracausal explosive through packs of enemies and onto bigger targets in order to make it more deadly. Likewise,Destiny 2will now allow Warlocks to shoot multiple projectiles out at once, increasing the overall size and damage of resulting explosions.
The original version of Radiance from the Sunsinger subclass did in fact make grenades and melee attacks stronger and also reduced their cooldowns, which is likely another hidden perk for theDestiny 2Super coming with The Final Shape. With the new Solar buddy from the additional Aspect completing the trifecta for all elements, and with a return of one of the franchise’s oldest Supers, the Warlock class will be coming full circle in the final chapter of the 10-year saga, which is a great way to close it.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
