Bungie releasedDestiny 2back in 2017, and it continues to evolve the live service title with new weapons, areas to explore, and fixes for any lingering problems. Preparing for theWitch Queenexpansion that was released today, Bungie has performed its plannedmaintenance onDestiny 2which took the servers offline for a limited time.
TheDestiny 2outages occurred simultaneously across the world, with some players being more impacted by the maintenance wait due to its timing than others depending on their time zone. AsDestiny 2’s servers come back online, players can expect a queue that gets lengthier depending on the platform they play the game on and several PlayStation fans are reporting issues connecting.

Bungie warnedDestiny 2players about today’s maintenance for theWitch Queenahead of time and expressed the need for maintenance in preparing the massively multiplayer FPS for the expansion’s release.Destiny 2’s Season of The Lostconcluded with today’s maintenance as fans waiting in queue anticipate new content brought to the FPS with Season of the Risen, which began today alongsideWitch Queen. Upon launchingDestiny 2after today’s maintenance, players will have to update the client with patch 4.0.0.1, which offers free Season of the Risen content next to the paidWitch QueenDLC.
The file size of update 4.0.0.1 depends on what platform the player is on. The update notably runs about 74GB on PS4. Season of the Risen comes with it two classicDestinyCruciblemaps, tons of Gambit changes, new story content, balancing forWitch Queen, and more. The newDestiny 2season brings tons of free content toDestiny 2which can be explored by players now, butWitch Queenwill add even more to the Bungie title at a price. Joining many of the other changes toDestiny 2with theWitch Queenexpansion are new exotic weapons and armor, open areas to explore, and a raid called Vow of the Disciple.
SomeDestiny 2players are experiencing issues connecting to the game since maintenance mode began, while others have expressed random disconnects making them have to queue again. In addition to these issues, some fans are noticing a possible connection between theDestiny 2:Witch Queenload screen and their technical issues. It’s currently unclear how longDestiny 2will be affected by the maintenance, but players may expect queues throughout the day after downloading the 4.0.0.1 update.
