Diablo 4is finally upon us, and players have been diving in to start mowing down hordes of demonic terrors with their friends.Diablo 4is–as its predecessors were–well-optimized for co-op play. The franchise gained its popularity at a time when very few multiplayer RPGs were on the market, so it became well-known for its success in this regard.

However, it’s completely possible toplay anyDiablogame soloinstead. Many players prefer playing solo to sink into the narrative on their own time. Not every character class excels at this play style, though. Ofall the classes Blizzard choseto put intoDiablo 4, one pulls ahead in its ability to survive as a lone wanderer.
Best Diablo 4 Solo Class
The best class for playingDiablo 4solo is the Necromancer. Other classes can surely be used for solo play, but the Necromancer brings a unique balance of versatility and power that really puts it ahead. Players choosing the Necromancer are all but guaranteed to have a good time playing through the story on their own.
Solo players need a few things to keep them going: survivability, raw damage output, and–above all–build diversity. Playing solo means players have time to try all the different possible builds available to each class, andDiablo 4even allows players tochange their skills on-the-fly. The Necromancer can be built out in many ways to optimize survivability and damage output.
Most builds with the Necromancer are viable, which can’t be said for the other classes. The Sorcerer might be an obvious choice for its incredible damage output and survivability. However,the Sorcerer is very overpowered right now, which takes the fun out of the game.
The Barbarian could also be a good choice, but its damage output–while still impressive–pales in comparison to the Necromancer. The Rogue and Druid are, unfortunately, in a place that makes solo play with them rather grueling, but it can be done. They require very specific builds, and players are mostly stuck in those builds for their entire playthrough.
How to Play the Necromancer Solo
Playing solo requires a high degree of damage output and survivability. To get these out of the Necromancer, players should keep a few things in mind:
