According to a recent build of its Public Test Realm,World of Warcraftmay be holding a crossover event withDiablo 4soon. This event will likely come toWorld of Warcraftin May in the weeks leading up toDiablo 4’slaunch.World of WarcraftPatch 10.1 is arriving on May 2, bringing with it a new zone, story campaign, and raid. According to the event description, players will be able to hunt down treasure goblins across Azeroth for unique rewards, and will be able to benefit from the Winds of Sanctuary–a 50% experience buff and 8% reputation gain increase for all factions except the new Loamm Niffen fromEmbers of Neltharion. The dates for this event are currently unlisted, but players can expect the event to begin after Patch 10.1 arrives. It will likely run throughDiablo 4’slaunch on June 6–and perhaps beyond release day to keep players logging in toWorld of Warcraft.
In addition to the experience and reputation boost, players can earn several cosmetic items during the event. A newWorld of Warcraftachievementassociated with the new Baal’lial battle pet indicates players can earn a new minion themed after the Lord of Lies fromDiablo 3. Item entries for a Horadric Haversack bag and an Enmity Hood and Cloak ensemble have also been discovered, as have models for a cosmetic Wirt’s Leg mace and a Treasure Nabbin’ Bag back piece. Players will likely be able to earn these items by defeating Treasure Goblins, exchanging currency, or other similar activities.
Players are understandably excited about thisDiablo 4crossover event inWoW. Welcome to Sanctuary would not be the first of such events–Blizzard has held similar crossovers in the past, and it even includes aWorld of Warcraftmount in theDiablo 4pre-purchase bundles. Collaborations between Blizzard games have historically been quite popular, and players are eager to see official details for the Winds of Sanctuary event fromWoWitself.
WithDiablo 4’ssuccessful open betabehind it, and its release in just a couple of months, players can’t wait to return to Sanctuary once more. Though Azeroth’s population could take a dip for a short time after its launch, the Welcome to Sanctuary event will ensure players don’t forget aboutWorld of Warcraftas they battle against Lilith and her minions.
