Fans ofBorderlands 3have been anxiously awaiting all-new content to play through. While the game’s Halloween event helped add some replayability, manyBorderlands 3fans were looking for something with a bit more meat.
Luckily,Gearbox announced theHeist of The Handsome JackpotDLCfor the game, giving fans quite a bit to look forward to. But, one question has remained: willHeist of The Handsome JackpotraiseBorderlands 3’slevel cap?

Gearbox hasn’t given an official answer yet, but the answer is probably not, if the past is anything to go by. Traditionally, Gearbox hasn’t raised the level cap with the game’s first DLC content packs, and allfootage shown of theHeist of the Handsome JackpotDLCin action show far has put players with level 50 still as the cap. With that in mind, it seems unlikely thatHeist of The Handsome Jackpotwill increase the level cap for players, which is somewhat unfortunate.
Of course,Borderlands 3is more about the loot and less about leveling itself. The argument can be made that the level cap isn’t all that important, as fans will be more focused on the endgame anyway. That being said, reaching new levels does make progression feel all the sweeter, and it’s certainly something many fans of the franchise would appreciate. There is, of course, still plenty of time for the level cap to be raised. After all,Borderlandsgames tend to get plenty of post-launch support, andBorderlands 3seems no different.
There’s still a chance that the DLC raises the level cap, but it seems highly unlikely. Gearbox has stated in the past thatBorderlands 3won’t have character DLC, so it’s possible that any DLC that will increase the level cap in the future raises it higher than the level 72 cap ofBorderlands 2to compensate, but that remains to be seen. It’s impossible to nail down Gearbox’s exact plans, but the developer has done a good job with DLC in the past.
TheHeist of The Handsome JackpotDLC isn’t too far away now, soBorderlands 3fans anxious for new content don’t have much longer to wait until they can jump back into the boots of their favorite Vault Hunters. Hopefully, there will be plenty of new guns to earn. If not, at least there are someBorderlands 3SHIFT Keysout now that fans can use towards some awesome loot.
