Plenty of people opted to do just that, as underlined by the ongoing influx ofDragon’s Dogma 2characters on social media, which features designs that range from elegant to horrifying.
One example of the latter has recently been authored by Reddit user The_Infernum, who made an attempt at designing a humanoid Pikachu. While the result of their efforts is certainly evocative of thePokemonmascot, its likeness to Pikachu isn’t so much authentic as it is nightmare fuel. Since none of theraces inDragon’s Dogma 2are inherently cute, the player opted to base their Pikachu recreation on the only animal race in the game, that of the Beastren people from the nation of Battahl.
Hundreds of fans voted to send the resulting creation to the front page of the largestDragon’s Dogmaseries community on Reddit, with dozens of others describing the character as everything from “cursed” to a Pikachu-themed Pennywise. Some fans weren’t really horrified so much as impressed or flat-out amused with the design, asking the author to release the sliders used to make it so that they could mimic the creation themselves.
The idea of using Beastren people to recreate famous animal characters inDragon’s Dogma 2did not start with this cursed Pikachu; another fan used the race as the template for an equally horrifying Garfield recreation, which they had shared in response to The_Infernum’s Pikachu making the rounds online. Whether either player intends to actuallytransfer these characters toDragon’s Dogma 2or has simply made them as a joke is unclear.

Regardless, Capcom’s decision to release the RPG’s character creator early has so far proven to be a clever way to create buzz around the game in the run-up to its global debut. While the upcoming title has already generated quite a bit of excitement among the fandom, clever marketing of this sort could still prove to be hugely beneficial for Capcom, not least becauseDragon’s Dogma 2is releasing on the same day as two other AAA heavy-hittersin the form ofRise of the RoninandPrincess Peach: Showtime.
