When it comes to zombie games, it’s hard not to think ofDead IslandorDying Light. Dead Islandwas first developed by Techland, with the company eventually moving on and expanding many of its systems intoDying Light, andDead Island 2was passed to another company (and has been in development hell, if still reportedly in the works).

Of course, given Techland’s experience with the first game, it’s hard to really divide these first two entries, but the sequels are a different story.Dying Light 2is out now, whileDead Island 2is still really quiet. ButDying Light 2hasn’t forgotten its roots, it seems, as it features a pretty potent Easter egg to the firstDead Island.

InDying Light 2’s prologue, players will get to explore an abandoned house filled with several interactable items that help build up the lore about the world. This provides insight intoDying Light 2’s infection, references to an end of the world party, and a nice little Easter egg forDead Island’s prologue, as pointed out by TheGamer.

Dead Island fans no doubt remember the opening cutscene of the game, as it features a massive party with every playable character involved. During this moment,Sam B—a character described as a “one-hit wonder rap star of fading game—is seen rapping his song: “Who do you voodoo, b*tch?” In fact, it’s such an instrumental aspect of his character that, if players stand still long enough, he’ll start whistling and rapping it in-game.

Back inDying Light 2,fans can find a record player in the aforementioned house that is called “Who Do You Voodoo?” Interacting with it will also seeDying Light 2’s protagonist Aiden Caldwellsay, “who do you do voodoo? That sounds familiar.” It’s a pretty cheeky reference, but one that’s likely to excite fans as they dive into their first hours ofDying Light 2.

There’s also a secondDead IslandEaster egg players can find during this prologue, should they choose to look for it. If they look out to the horizon, there’s a little tree in the middle of the river that looks just like theDead Islandlogo (also pointed out by TheGamer). It’s not as interesting or as nostalgic as “Who do you voodoo?,” but it is an interesting nod between the two games. Who knows, perhaps fans will actually hear somethingnew aboutDead Island 2sometime this year, now that one of these sequels is finally out.

Dying Light 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A Switch version is in development.
