There’s some talk going around at the moment about what the future holds forDying Light 2.Techland has hinted at a New Game Plus mode, while lead designer, Tymon Smektała, has expressed interest in supporting the game for the next five years. In the interim, there is the matter of one major issue with the game which has been making it pretty much impossible to play, but it looks as though a recent patch for the PlayStation ports has now finally fixed it.
According to patch notes on the game’s website, version 1.07 on PS4, and 1.007.00 on PS5, ofDying Light 2has been given a pretty significant update, which brings with it a number of changes, tweaks, and bug fixes, as all good updates do. Perhaps one of the most important repairs was to the infamous “deathloop” glitch. In fact, the first note on the site says that all instances of this issue have now been “eliminated.”

For those who haven’t played the game, fans ofDying Light 2noticed the “deathloop” bugnot long after the game was released. Essentially, the glitch kicked in when a player died in a restricted area and would respawn in another area of the map. However, the respawn point would be too far back, and they would need to return to the area where they were before the time ran out. They would then be sent back to that far away spawn point again, each time they died, hence the nickname of the glitch.
Patch 1.2.0 for the PC version ofDying Light 2also went live recently, which, again, fixed the bug. Along with this, the update also fixed some problems with the co-op side of the game, improved the ragdoll physics to make it more natural, tweaked the UI, and much more. It also alters the night mode, increasing the range of the Howler’s senses, making Volatiles emerge from hiding spots faster, and just generally making it more challenging.
Despite the fixes, however,Dying Light 2now has a problem with the Korek Charm, in that the patch nerfs it to make it somewhat less effective, as well as being more expensive to craft. Techland has acknowledged the feedback from this, especially as it wasn’t in the patch notes, and has said that it will look into readjusting it once more in future updates. For now, it seems as though, at last, that the infamous “deathloop” problem has been sorted, so that should make plenty of fans happy.
