Golden Order Greatsword Location
The Golden Order Greatsword is the drop reward for defeating the Misbegotten Crusader boss in the Cave of the Forlorn, located in the Consecrated Snowfield. It is the third Misbegotten enemy who somehow got their hands on alegendary armament. However, unlike the other two Misbegotten Warriors, the Misbegotten Crusader actually wields the Golden Order Greatsword and uses its weapon skill in the fight.
If you haven’t made it to theConsecrated Snowfield, you will first have to obtain both halves of the Haligtree Medallions. You can get the left half from Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics, while the right half is located at the top roof of Castle Sol in the far north of the Mountaintops of the Giants. After collecting both halves of the medallions, use the Secret Medallion option in the Grand Lift of Rold to reach the Hidden Path to the Haligtree dungeon.
After leaving the dungeon, head north to find a frozen riverbed. Follow this riverbed in the east direction until you reach the place with two large giant octopuses. Don’t go too far ahead, or you will awaken the Great Wyrm Theodorix. One of the two octopuses will be guarding the entrance to the Cave of the Forlorn.
The Cave of the Forlorn is a pretty simple dungeon with no hidden gimmicks. This cave is home to various Misbegotten enemies. Players won’t have any trouble clearing this cave. At the bottom floor of the Cave of the Forlorn, you will find the Misbegotten Crusader. This enemy has low poise, and his attacks can be interrupted easily with heavy weapons.
If you are having trouble defeating the Misbegotten Crusader, consider using a spirit summon to make the fight easier. There are plenty of hard-hitting and powerful spirit summons inElden Ring. After defeating the Misbegotten Crusader, you will be rewarded with the Golden Order Greatsword.
Is the Golden Order Greatsword Good?
The Golden Order Greatsword is a strong melee weapon forFaith builds. Players will need at least 16 Strength, 21 Dexterity, and 28 Faith to use this weapon. At max level, this greatsword gets a B scaling in Faith, D in Dexterity, and E in Strength.
The Golden Order Greatsword suffers from a problem common across many Holy weapons. Almost all of the endgame bosses inElden Ringcome with high resistance to Holy damage. The final boss fight,Radagon and Elden Beast, have an 80% resistance to Holy damage. For this reason, the Golden Order Greatsword isn’t the best pick for the final fights. Moreover, this weapon is located in one of the final regions, by which players already have other strong Faith weapons like the Blasphemous Blade.
However, there are many enemies weak to Holy damage, mostly undead enemies. Faith builds can definitely make use of the Golden Order Greatsword against undead enemies, especially Death Birds, Revenants, and Tibia Mariners.
The Golden Order Greatsword comes with a unique Ash of War called Establish Order. This skill first causes a Holy explosion around the wielder and then launches a wave projectile at the enemy. With a proper build, the Establish Order skill can demolish undead bosses in no time. While being akin to the Dark Moon Greatsword, the Golden Order Greatsword’s skill doesn’t turn its charged attacks into projectiles. For a projectile Holy weapon, players are better off using the Black Knife, Sacred Relic Sword, or even theSacred Blade Ash of War.
If you are planning to use the Golden Order Greatsword, be sure to have the Holy-Shrouding Cracked Tear in your Wondrous Physick Flask for an extra 20% damage to Holy attacks. You can also equip talismans like the Sacred Scorpion Charm, Shard of Alexander, and Ritual Sword Talisman for further damage increase.
