Obi-Wan Kenobicame to Disney Plus in May 2022, and many fans have been enjoying the lost episodes of Obi-Wan’s story. Now, Ewan McGregor has shared his thoughts on whether or not theStar Warsseries will get a second season from Lucasfilm and Disney.
While many members of the creative team have expressed aninterest in doingObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2, the fate of theStar Warsshow has yet to be officially announced one way or the other. Speaking at Celebrity Fan Fest convention, McGregor suggested its simply a matter of when, not if, the series will get a second season.

“I’m totally up for it guys, I wanna do it,” McGregor told fans at the convention before potentially dashing hopes. “I’m absolutely honest, there is no plan to make one yet.” Despite there being noplans forObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2, McGregor suggested that the powers that be are simply waiting for the right time to move forward with the project. “But I think, I’m pretty sure they’re just biding their time. But nobody’s approached me as of yet,” he said.
Right now, it’s up in the air as to where this show will go, asObi-Wan Kenobiwas marketed as a limited series, something that was supposed to feel like a movie in episodic form.Obi-Wan Kenobitied up a lot of loose ends, so it’s unclear where else it can go from here without including other characters from the television shows or video games. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story ended inA New Hope, so it’s unclear as to what can be added without taking away from what’s already been done.
Star Warshas a lot of lore left to uncover that’s been touched on in other media. Most ofthe stories have been with the Skywalker saga, but it’s time for fans to see the Old Republic or some of the stories that took place many years before the time of the heroes fans all know and love. Right now there’s room to set up a new saga ofStar Warsstorytelling.
On the other hand, many fans do like seeing the story continue. Watching the story progress is the best way for fans to grow more attached to the lore. Many would love to know what the future holds for theStar Warsfranchise, as now it’s in unprecedented territory.
