In that same report, Tom Warren mentioned that, according to his sources,Gears of War: E-Dayis also “targeting a release in 2025,” apparently “ahead of evenFable.” This comment would suggest thatGears of War: E-Daycould come out sometime between Summer and Fall, withFablecoming out a little while later betweenFall and Holiday 2025.

WhileFablenow has a confirmed 2025 release date,Gears of War: E-Daydoesn’t. The Verge’s Tom Warren also commented on this, stating that Microsoft may be giving The Coalition “some breathing room.” With no concrete release date, it’s more than possible thatGears of War: E-Daywon’t be in players' hands by the end of 2025, even if Warren’s statements about Xbox targeting a 2025 release window are true.
Developing games is incredibly difficult, and that’s especially true for a project as big asGears of War: E-Day. It’s more than likely that The Coalition will eventually require more time to complete the game, and if/when that happens, Xbox’s internal targets for its release window will probably change. Though that’ll be disappointing forGears of Warsfans, it would be a smart move in the long run, as there’s a lot of pressure on The Coalition to get it right withE-Day.
