Fallout 76has a strong and passionate community of fans, and one among them managed to create an absolutely awe-inspiring live-action trailer that even the developers took notice. Though the game had a notoriously difficult launch,Fallout 76’s redemption story over the yearshas made it a worthy entry for many fans of theFalloutfranchise. Despite the troubles it had when it released, there was arguably one thingFallout 76did right: setting the tone and atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic Appalachia.
ThoughFallout 5is still several years away,Fallout 76represents a good way for theFalloutfranchise to stay in the limelight, as Bethesda provides regular post-launch support in the form of content updates such as The Pitt. The studio has greatly expanded on the Appalachia seen during the game’s release, but at its core,Fallout 76is about camaraderie, rebuilding the wasteland, and taming an irradiated wilderness.

The live-action trailer made by Brian Curtin and his team perfectly captures this tone. In its two-and-a-half minute runtime, it distills down all the things that makeFallout 76special, with unbelievably gorgeous visuals true to the franchise. From Power Armor and Mister Handy, to Nuka Cola and Pip-Boy, the trailer manages to faithfully depict the unique blend of an indulgent slice of Americana and a post-nuclear dystopia that theFalloutuniverse is known for.
Not even Bethesda’s officialFalloutaccount on Twitter was ambivalent to Curtin’s live-action trailer, as the developers behindFallout 76were stunned into silence by the insane craftsmanship, dedication, and reverence that went into the project. Dubbed as a live action concept, the trailer certainly managed to succeed in translating all the iconic visuals of Fallout into a new medium.
If theFallouttelevision show currently in development at Amazon(starring Walton Goggins) pours half the passion and love into its production as Curtin’s trailer did, it will find many fans amongFallout’s passionate players. With Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy at the helm as producers, there’s certainly a lot of promise for Bethesda’s intellectual property to branch out in ways that Arcane did forLeague of Legends.
While there is no known roadmap for 2023 at present,Fallout 76’s future is far from uncertainas the developers aim to support the game with regular content updates for at least the next five years. ThoughStarfieldwill no doubt command attention from manyFalloutfans, it is comforting to know that they’ll always be able to return to Appalachia for a few hours of pure, unrestricted fun.
