A fan edit of one ofThe Batmantrailers has gone viral online for including Jim Carrey’s iconic Riddler. The upcoming film has revealed multiple trailers at this point, with one of them showcasing Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne coming face-to-face with Paul Dano’s The Riddler. In the fan-made trailer, however, Carrey takes over the confrontation.
Created and posted by comedian Matthew Highton on Twitter, the interesting take onThe Batmantrailer includes footage from1995’sBatman Forever. As Pattinson’s Caped Crusader looks for clues around Gotham City, Carrey’s Riddler is busy throwing around his version of the bat bombs, creating new riddles, and cackling in his typical villainous manner. Even though the film was released more than 25 years ago, the Riddler scenes somehow seem to work withThe Batmanfootage.

The fan-made video begins with the scenefromThe Batmantrailerof the question mark seen as coffee art. The Warner Bros. and DC logos then appear in the Riddler green, already a stark difference from the original trailer that is doused in a red hue. The trailer then goes on to perfectly blend together scenes from the upcoming film and the 1995 classic. So perfect is the edit that it seems like Carrey’s Riddler is responsible for the explosions in Gotham City and even seems to be having a conversation with Pattinson’s Batman.
Matt Reeves’The Batmanseems like a much serious, noir take on the ever-popular story of the Black Knight. SeeingCarrey’s campy Riddlerasking if “anybody else feels like a fried egg,” in between all of Pattinson’s dark scenes is an absolute delight. The video is a great reminder of Carrey’s take on the role and how it is remembered fondly all these years later. The trailer ends with the iconic riddle fromBatman Forever, “Riddle me this, riddle me that, who’s afraid of the big, black bat?”
Batman is one of the most popular heroes in cinematic history, and several actors have donned the cape in the past. InBatman Forever,Val Kilmer portrayed the role of the Dark Knight. After his departure from the franchise, other actors to have taken on the role include George Clooney, Christian Bale, andmost recently Ben Affleck. However, Pattinson’s version of the Batman will be entirely different, as the upcoming film is set outside of the main DC Extended Universe.
There is a lot of anticipation for Reeves’The Batman, and fan expectations are quite high when it comes toPattinson’s portrayal of the Caped Crusader. The film was initially meant to release in the summer of 2021. However, due to the ongoing pandemic and several positive COVID-19 cases among cast and crew members, the film has been delayed many times. However, things seem to be on track now for a March release.
The Batmanis scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 05, 2025.
