This newFortnitechapter took the entire community by storm. It’s not unusual to get a new map, completely different weapons, and a few changes to some mechanics but what actually happened this time around was the addition of something totally unlike anything that’s been in the game.

Along with Chapter Four came the addition ofReality Augments, selectable powerups that last the entirety of a match. Some Augments aren’t all that great, they certainly won’t be game-changing, but others can play a decisive role in whether the player wins a match or not. This guide will list all available Augments inFortniteat the moment and teach players everything they need to know about them.
Updated May 29, 2025, by Ashely Claudino:Reality Augments have been a hit in the Fortnite community. This temporary perks system works really well with the game, and it allows players to choose a different route each time they enter a new match. The course of a Fortnite match can change greatly depending on the Reality Augments that the player has decided to go with, and it definitely mixes things up each time around. Epic Games had already added newer Reality Augments to Fortnite in previous updates, but now they’ve done it again with the release of v23.40. Some of these recently added Augments are here temporarily for the Most Wanted event, but they’re still worth mentioning since they can be used until the end of the month and might even come back in the future. As a result, this guide was also updated to keep it in sync with the game. The new Augments have been listed down below along with their description as well as some information regarding how often they can appear during a match.

How To Activate Augments
Once the Battle Bus leaves the starting island and begins flying over the main Battle Royale Island, the Reality Augments countdown will start at two minutes and 30 seconds. It’ll be ready for activation before the first storm circle starts even closing.
There is no way to speed up the process of having the Augments option ready before anyone else. Regardless of how long a player takes to activate an Augment, the countdown until the next one is ready will start straight away after the last one becomes available.

Once the “Ready” marker appears on the right side of the screen, gamers will have to press that button and decide which Augment they’d like to activate; its effect will be enabled until the end of the match and there is no way to deactivate, so it must be chosen wisely.
For example, the Party Time Reality Augment makes it, so the user will gain balloons over time and thus start to float, this can be an unfortunate choice sometimes because it can be annoying or the balloons might appear at an undesired time. Unfortunately, this is the case, there’s nothing to be done except removing the balloons manually every single time.

Players will be able to choosea maximum of four Augments per match. They get to choose between two options at first, and then they can reroll to get different options if they aren’t happy; the first reroll is free, and then it’s possible to spend 200 gold bars to get extra rerolls.
Previously, rerolls cost only 100 gold bars, but with update 23.40 this number changed to 200 gold bars. This might be related to the Most Wanted event since during this time it’s particularly easy to acquire gold bars.

All Available Reality Augments
At the moment there are 36 available Reality Augments inFortnite. Before the content update, there were only 22 Reality Augments; Epic Games added Shotgun Striker, Peely’s Plunder, Rarity Check, Zero Chance, and Danger Hero first, and then in another update, Epic added the Rift-jector Seat, Shadow Striker, Icy Slide, Harvester, and Mythic Munition. On top of that, with version 23.40, the game got four extra Augments that would automatically unlock for players (most likely due to the season being closer to the end.)Fortniteis updated regularly, so this number might keep increasing over time as new updates keep coming. Players can check out the Augments tab inthe Map menuto check out how many they’ve discovered.
Augments improve the player’s performance during a match, and they can improve various skills. They are separated into four categories: Combat, Game Changer, Mobility and Scouting, and Looting. Here are the augments players can discover andtheir effect during gameplay:

Combat
As the name indicates, Combat Augments all consist of perks that can improve the player’s performance and give them a slight advantage when using certain types of weapons.
Category number

#1
First Assault
The first bullet in the magazine of the player’s rifle deals bonus damage. This counts right after reloading so reloading pretty often is a great way to take advantage of this Augment.
#2
Pistol Amp
Pistols have greatly increased magazine size. This Augment increases the amount of ammo a magazine has by 50%.
#3
Light Fingers
Weapons using light ammo reload faster. This Augment makes it so SMGs and Pistols reload 25% faster.
#4
Bow Specialist
Bows draw and reload faster, and the player regenerates arrows over time.
#5
Mechanic Archer
The player receives a Mechanic Explosive and a Mechanic Shockwave Bow. These two bows can only be obtained with this Reality Augment. The Mechanic Explosive Bow is particularly useful against various enemies and the Shockwave Bow can get players out of the storm in no time.
#6
Demolitions Munitions
Objects that the player destroys have a chance to drop explosives - except for player-built structures.
#7
Rifle Recycle
Weapons using medium ammo have a chance not to consume ammo.
#8
Tactical Armory
Grants a Rare rarity Tactical Assault Rifle and Combat Shotgun. This is the only way to obtain these two weapons. The Tactical Assault Rifle is a great replacement for some of the other Assault Rifles in the game, and Rare rarity might not sound like much, but they can always be upgraded at any workbench.
#9
#10
Shotgun Striker
Shotguns give siphon on hits against opponents. This perk makes it so that whenever a player hits an enemy using a shotgun, they’ll receive a small amount of health back. Unlike the Rarity Check Augment, there’s no need to actually eliminate the player to gain some health.
#11
Danger Hero
The player briefly regenerates health and gains movement speed when their shield breaks.
#12
Rift-jector Seat
Whenever the player’s shield breaks, they’ll rift into the sky (overshield excluded.)Anytime the player’s shield is damaged - beyond their overshield if they’re playing Zero Build mode -, a rift will automatically open and send them up in the sky. This allows the player to reopen their glider and restart an encounter from a new position if they’d like.
#13
Last Shots
The last two bullets of the player’s pistols' magazines deal bonus damage. Epic Games has really been trying to improve the value of pistol, so that they can be more competitively viable. This Reality Augment, mixed with other pistol-related Augments in the Combat category, can make them nearly unstoppable.
The Rift-jector Reality Augment is not included in competitive playlists. This may be due to the fact that in skirmishes, during the endgame, there are many players in a small circle and they’d all be pulled into the rift.
Game Changer
The Game Changer category has Augments that provide certain abilities and items that could completely change the course of a match.
Aerialist
The player gains the ability to deploy their glider. With this Augment in effect, the player redeploys their glider whenever they feel like as long as they’re jumping from a high enough height.
Chug Gunner
The player receives a Chug Cannon. The Chug Cannon is an Exotic rarity item that besides this Reality Augment can only be earned when purchased fromthe Sunflower NPC at Frenzy Fields.
Rarity Check
The player gains siphon on eliminations with common or uncommon weapons. This Reality Augment actually makes it viable to walk around the map with green and grey-rarity weapons. It’s great for the early game, and it might even make some players consider if they should take a weapon of a weaker rarity with them simply to take advantage of the siphoning ability it grants when this is activated.
Mythic Munition
The player receives a Mythic Tactical Pistol. This is the only way to obtain this mythical Tactical Pistol, and combining this Augment with the Pistol Amp and Light Fingers Augments can make a powerful trio.
Keymaster
The player receives two keys that can be used to open Holo-Chests. Holo-Chests are spread all over the map, and they contain high-rarity weapons and valuable items; inside players can find exotic weapons, legendary weapons, and multiple healing items.
The Rarity Check Reality Augment isn’t included in competitiveFortniteplaylists which means players can’t use it in Arena modes and tournaments. Although the Shotgun Striker is just as good if not better, it’s not been disabled in competitive game modes.
Mobility & Scouting
Related:Fortnite: All Chapter 4 Season 1 Milestone Goals
Augments in the Mobility & Scouting category allow players to improve how they move through the map and give them unique scouting abilities that can be used to mark and track enemy players.
More Parkour
The player’s energy regenerates briefly after mantling or hurdling. If this Augment is active, the player’s stamina bar will become full and it will not decrease for a few short moments.
Supercharged
Vehicles that the player is inside of have increased health and only consume fuel while boosting.
Bloodhound
Enemies hit by the player’s marksman rifle or bow shots will be marked for a brief duration.
Bush Warrior
The player’s health and shields regenerate slowly while they’re inside large foliage.
Party Time
The player gains balloons over time. Every few seconds, the player will receive an additional balloon on their back and be able to float; this will happen until a maximum it reaches the maximum of three balloons.
Tricked Out
Entering a car or truck applies Chonkers and a Cow Catcher to it.
Forecast
The player can always see the next storm circle. If this Augment is activated, when the storm appears on the map, a smaller circle will also appear, indicating where it’ll be next.
Storm Mark
When the storm changes, the player can ping the area to highlight nearby enemies for a short duration.
Soaring Sprints
The player can jump much higher and with low gravity while sprinting. This effect works just like Hop Rocks, the player won’t suffer any fall damage and can leap much farther as long as they were sprinting before jumping.
Zero Chance
The player temporarily acquires the Zero Dash ability when they break an enemy’s shield. The Zero Dash ability was in the game a while ago, and it made it so players could skip around the map if they double-tapped the jump button. This can be used strategically to make a move on an unexpecting player. After breaking their shield, it’s possible to advance in their direction extremely fast before they can even know what’s coming.
Shadow Striker
The player has the chance of finding Shadow Bombs in containers they open. The Shadow Bomb item has been vaulted from the game for a while now, but now it can be obtained with this Augment. Shadow Bombs make the player invisible which allows them to sneak up on their enemies.
Icy Slide
The player gets a brief icy speed boost after sliding. This can be viewed as a good thing or a bad thing, and not every gamer will want to activate this Augment. The icy effect will give the player a speed boost, but it’ll also make the ground extremely slippery.
Looting
Augments that are part of the looting category give players the opportunity to improve the loot in their inventory, but they don’t actually give exclusive items, unlike some Augments such as the Mythic Munition and Tactical Armory.
Splash Medic
The player has a chance to find Chug Splash in every container that they open.
Jelly Angler
The player receives a fishing rod. They can use it to fish anywhere, but they’ll only be able to catch Jellyfish. Players will fish one Jellyfish out of the water anytime they use a fishing rod during this match. Jellyfish work just like Chug Splash, so they’re a pretty good fish to catch since they’ll heal the player and the surrounding players.
Peely’s Plunder
The player receives a treasure map that will lead them to buried treasure. This works exactly like the vaulted Drake’s map; a map is added to the player’s inventory after this perk has been activated, and an arrow will point in the direction of the buried treasure.
Harvester
Foliage that the player destroys will dropBig Bush Bombsand forageables. This Augment also increases the effectiveness of forageable items. Big Bush Bombs will create foliage which the player can then destroy to reactivate this Augment.
Most Wanted Event
The Most Wanted Event has taken theFortnitecommunity by storm as it seems most fans have been having a blast playing it. During this time, there are also limited-time Reality Augments that players can use to their advantage, not only to make the perfect heist but also to take down any enemy that might appear in their way. These Augments will remain in the game until downtime for v23.50 starts on February 28.
Even during the event, these Augments are not available in competitive playlists.
Exotic Grab Bag
The player receives a random Heisted Exotic weapon. There are five exclusive exotic weapons with special power-ups that can only be obtained during the Most Wanted event. If players don’t have the time to get them near a Cold Blooded base, they can receive them by activating this Augment.
Sniper Surplus
The Sniper Rifles that the player holds have one extra ammo in their magazine. Before this update, there were no Sniper Rifles inFortniteanymore, only bows, but now for a limited amount of time, players can enjoy the Heavy Sniper Rifle - especially if they decide to activate the Sniper Surplus Augment.
How To Unlock All Augments
The more someone plays, the more likely they are to unlock new Reality Augments. It’s all up to RNG, unfortunately, but if the player makes sure to always use as many Augments as possible per match it’s more likely that they’ll unlock them faster.
iFireMonkey, a notorious leaker inFortnitecommunity, recently discovered that theAugments that appear as selectable during a match don’t have the same chance of spawning; even though it is random, some of them have a higher chance of appearing - they all have percentages attributed to them to dictate how often they can appear when an Augment is ready to be activated. Rarity Check and Tactical Armory are among the rarest Reality Augments, whereas Pistol Specialist and Light Fingered are among the most common Reality Augments.
This is just one of the various things that have been found out about Augments since they were first released. Adding to this, at first, theFortnitecommunity believed that rerolling as many times as possible would increase the chances of getting a new Reality Augment, this has since then been proven to not be correct at all.During rerolls, the game will only allow the player to choose between Augments that they’ve already unlocked before. So, regardless of how many the player rerolls and how many gold bars they decide to spend on this, there’s no use doing it to discover new Augments.
Another way to gain access to more Reality Augments is to play with friends. In a recent update, Epic Games made it, so players could borrow Augments from their teammates. When these Augments appear on the list of selectable Augments, a teammate’s icon will appear on the side to identify that they can only be loaned. Selecting them won’t add them to the player’s Augments collection, but they can be tested and used until the end of the match.
Even though this addition has gotten positive feedback from theFortnitecommunity, it is still unknown whether Reality Augments will continue to be a part of the game in the upcoming seasons or if they’re exclusive to Chapter 4 Season 1. Regardless of this, players should keep getting the most out of these perks while they’re available as they’re extremely fun to mess around with.
Fortniteis available for Mac, Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
