This season ofFortnitehas challenged players with a constantly changing watery world, featuring loot-laden sharks, Coral Buddies, and superfluous motorboats. One of the challenges brought by Week 8 of the season invites players to take part in an exciting time trial at Motorboat Mayhem.
The challenge in question requires players to go to Motorboat Mayhem, located near Lazy Lakes, and complete a relatively quick time trial. Upon completion, players are awarded a generous 35,000 XP, which can quickly add up to a small fortune if all theother Season 3 Week 8 Challengesare completed.

Motorboat Mayhem is a boat-racing track found just southwest of Lazy Lakes. Once there, players will find a fair number ofmotorboats available to pilot creatively- simply choose a vessel and head for the starting line, which is marked by a large blue ring/icon in the water. The game will automatically start a countdown, and translucent blue “coins” will appear on the track for players to follow. Simply command the motorboat through all the coins before the time trial’s timer expires, and “Complete the boat time trial at Motorboat Mayhem” will be marked as finished, earning 35,000 XP.
Insofar as the challenge itself, players simply need to drive through all the markers before the timer expires - no need to set an extraordinaryFortniterecord. It may take a couple of tries depending on mastery of the boat’s mechanics, but the game offers a decent amount of time. It should be no big deal, so to speak.
If Motorboat Mayhem is feeling too rowdy to safely complete the challenge, a simple solution is to hold off before heading to Lazy Lakes/Motorboat Mayhem. Waiting for early scuffles to wind down can help minimize the number of hostile players interfering with the challenge. It’s no secret that theFortnitemap can get crowded, whether or not afestive Party Royale event is expected.
That being said, players who aren’t afraid of a bit of competition may simply want to approach Motorboat Mayhem immediately upon exiting the Party Bus. If lucky, players may have the opportunity to complete this time trial on a hilariously overcrowded racetrack. It may be chaotic, but there’s no First Prize, after all, just the same XP reward for everyone completing the challenge.
With the recentintroduction of cars as a newFortnitevehicle, players have more travel options than ever at their disposal. It’s a shame that the Motorboat Mayhem challenge can’t be completed in an amphibious car, but players can still enjoy a nice drive across the map if they fail to land safely on Motorboat Mayhem’s aquatic tracks.
