Elden Ringis a massive success for From Software and Bandai Namco. It is the best-selling game of 2022 in the US, besting the likes ofHorizon Forbidden WestandPokemon Legends: Arceus, and it has achieved similar results in the UK.Elden Ringwill continue to sell wellthroughout the year as more people than usual seem open to giving it a shot.
WhileElden Ringis more approachable than other FromSoftware games, it is still an extremely difficult game. The endgame is particularly filled with many dangerous bosses and users can still die to regular enemies in just a few hits. Players generally respawn fairly quickly after death, especially on current-gen systems, but there is a small window between dying and the screen turning black. A new clip shows enemies seemingly high-fiving each other immediately after killing a player.

User TSgt-Duck uploads a clip where they are fighting three enemies inElden Ringwith a scythe. After hitting them a few times, TSgt-Duck walks straight into a thrust attack by all 3 and instantly dies. 2 of the enemies go for a grab move immediately afterward, but since TSgt-Duck is already dead, it looks they are aiming to high-five each other and celebrate their victory. The enemies missing the apparent high-five also adds to the hilarity of the situation.
Other players are commenting on how well the enemies coordinated to kill TSgt-Duck but missed a simple high-five. User lynxerious states that they are the slowest, yet some of the most annoying enemies in anySoulsgame. Commenters are also discussing the range of their spears, with one speculating that thrust and lunge attacks get extra range when players feel like they are at a safe distance. TheCrucible Knight inElden Ringis probably a great example of this.
User Kraile also mentions that players get a small number of runes after killing these enemies, so it’s better to just run past them. It seems like this is a popular sentiment, as other players agree that enemies do not net a lot of runes for the effort required to defeat them.Runes inElden Ringare the equivalent of souls from theDark Soulsgames, as they can be used for leveling up or purchasing items.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
