Before Nintendo revolutionized the video game industry with theNintendo Entertainment System, it was known for its handheld Game & Watch systems. Now the Game & Watch is returning withGame & Watch: Super Mario Bros., set to release later this year and be available until March 2021.

As its name implies,Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros.will let players play the originalSuper Mario Bros.game on the go, along withSuper Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. The Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. will also function as a clock, just like the classic ones, but it will feature a more traditional d-pad to allow for smoother controls. Nintendo has also teased that there are “35 little touches” for players to discover in Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., but stopped short of revealing exactly what those “little touches” could be.

WhileSuper Mario Bros.andThe Lost Levelsare definitely the “meat” of this new Game & Watch release, it will also feature the Game & Watch ball mini-game. But instead of the classic Game & Watch character, the mini-game has Mario’s likeness. Anyone interested will be able to pick up the system come November 13, and they should note that it will be displayed in “full color,” which is quite the upgrade compared to some of the original Game & Watch releases.

Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. is just one way that Nintendo is celebrating theSuper Mario35th Anniversary. In a surprise Nintendo Direct presentation, the company also announced a slew ofSuper Mariogames coming to the Switch, with the most notable easily beingSuper Mario 3D All-Stars. Like Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., it will only be available for a limited-time, so those interested will want to act fast.

Another bigSuper Marioannouncement from the Nintendo Direct was the confirmation of theSuper Mario 3D WorldSwitch port. But instead of simply portingSuper Mario 3D Worldto the Switch, Nintendo is expanding on the game with new content in an expansion calledBowser’s Fury. Specific details as to whatBowser’s Furywill entail have yet to be revealed, but more information will come to light as we get closer to the game’s release on June 04, 2025.
