With Version 3.8 out,Genshin Impactplayers are getting their first taste of substantial leaks concerning the new region of Fontaine, including the full ability kit for Hydro Traveler. ThoughGenshin Impactcharacterscome in many shapes and sizes, hailing from all corners of Teyvat, wielding a Vision of any element, and brandishing a weapon of any kind, the Traveler is unique in that their element isn’t fixed. Over the course ofGenshin Impact’s many updates, players have unlocked the Anemo, Geo, Electro, and Dendro elements for the Traveler’s arsenal, and now Fontaine is looking to add Hydro to the mix.

Dendro Traveler inGenshin Impacthas been a surprisingly powerful choice for many premium teams, especially ones that rely on Yae Miko for Aggravate reactions or Raiden Shogun’s elemental recharge scaling. With Hydro being the featured element in Fontaine,Genshin Impactplayers are hoping that HoYoverse will continue the streak from Sumeru, and provide the Traveler with a new ability kit that can compete with the meta.

Posted on theGenshin ImpactLeaks subreddit by No-Lifeguard4399, fans can now get a glimpse of the Hydro Traveler and their ability kit thanks to Mero and Blednaya’s leaks. As per tradition, Normal and Charged Attacks for the Traveler’s Sword remain unchanged. However, the new Aquacrest Saber will allow the Traveler to effectively become a machine gun in exchange for draining their health. Tapping the new Elemental Skill will unleash a torrential wave of water, whereas holding it for up to six seconds will make the Traveler continuously pellet enemies with dewdrops.

Curiously, the Aquacrest Saber will also interact with the new Spiritsbreath mechanic, where characters from Fontaine will either have Pneuma-aligned or Ousia-aligned damage bonuses. Given the themes of duality in Fontaine, Spiritsbreath is assumed to be a gameplay extension of that idea. Though it remains to be seen exactly how the new mechanic will influence the combat in Fontaine, or even if it will find its way to theSpiral Abyss inGenshin Impact, Lynette, Lyney, Freminet, and the Hydro Traveler all seem to interact with it in some way.

The Traveler’s new Elemental Burst is called Rising Waters, and based on the description, it seems to be akin to a slow-moving version of the Elemental Burst from the Anemo Traveler’s kit. To help combat the health drain of Aquacrest Saber, Hydro Travelers will have a passive talent that will restore their HP with every Sourcewater Droplet collected, which spawns by using the Hold version of Aquacrest Saber upon hitting an enemy. Overall, it seems early to judge the strength of the HydroTraveler inGenshin Impactthis early, but it’s certainly a unique kit on paper.

Genshin Impactis available for PC, Mobile, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
