MultipleGenshin Impactleakers have been targeted in a new set of DMCAs sent out by Cognosphere, the publisher of HoYoverse’s popular open-world action RPG. Leakers are a source of new information coming directly fromGenshin Impactbeta builds in China, and the publisher appears to be cracking down on leaks before version 3.4 launches this month.
HoYoverse recently unveiledGenshin Impactversion 3.4during a special program livestream on January 6. The developers detailed the new Sumeru area known as the Desert of Hadramaveth, the upcoming Lantern Rite festival in Liyue Harbor, and playable characters Alhaitham and Yaoyao. Shortly after the event, more details about version 3.4 such as Alhaitham’s appearance while gliding and four-star banner characters would emerge due to prominentGenshin Impactleakers. These leakers would also gain information regarding Fontaine characters arriving in updates later in the year.

TorrentFreak recently obtained DMCA subpoena documents sent by Cognosphere to the popular “House of Daena” Discord server and itsprominentGenshin Impactleakers. FourGenshin ImpactDMCAs were filed on behalf of Cognosphere to prevent further infringement and breach of copyright by users in the House of Daena server. According to the documents obtained by TorrentFreak, the DMCA takedown notice was sent on January 11 and the subpoena applications were dated for January 12. All documents were filed at the United States District Court for the Northern District of California by Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, a law firm known for representing Cognosphere in the past year.
Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP also targeted Ubatcha, another prominentGenshin Impactleaker, in December 2022. Discord was ordered by the court to disclose information regarding Ubatcha and the user’s recentGenshin Impactleaks. The same law firm is spearheading Cognosphere’s efforts to combat leaks. DMCAs suggest removing or disabling the House of Daena server or its channels to prevent more information from being leaked to the public.
Genshin Impactcontinues to excite its fans with new content, updates, trailers, and other means of celebration within the community. However, some of theGenshin Impactfans potentially violate copyright laws by accessing and releasing information that is not ready for the public. The HoYoverse developers working hard on creatingnewGenshin Impactcontentmay be impacted when leakers release information that has yet to be finalized internally.
Cognosphere is looking to make examples of leakers by continuing to pursue legal action in the US via district courts and law firms. TheGenshin Impactcommunity is extremely passionate about the game, so it’s unlikely that leaks will stop so soon after targeting House of Daena. Information aboutGenshin Impact’sFontaine regionis already available online as well.
Genshin Impactis available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is currently in development.
