The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the 2023Golden Globenominations.The Banshees of Inisherinracked up the most film nominations, and ABC’s public school sitcomAbbot Elementaryearned the most TV nominations.
The nominees were announced this morning by actors Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva of the NBC comedy seriesLopez vs. Lopezwith Helen Hoehne, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). In the film categories, Searchlight Pictures' Irish black comedyThe Banshees of Inisherinlead with eight nominations, including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and Best Actor for Colin Farrell. Fellow Co-stars Brenden Gleeson and Barry Keoghan were nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, and actress Kerry Condon was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. The film’s director, Martin McDonagh, was nominated for Best Screenplay, and composer Carter Burwell is nominated for Best Score.

Other notable nominees include A24’sEverything Everywhere All at Once, which received nominations for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, and Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan. Filmmaking duo Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) were nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Paramount Pictures’Babylonearned five nominations, including Best Motion Picture, Actor for Diego Calva, Actress for Margot Robbie, and Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt. Other notable mentions in the musical and comedy categories include Netflix’s murder mystery sequelGlass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,which was nominated for Best Picture and Best Actor (Daniel Craig), andNeon’s dark satireTriangle of Sadness, which earned two nominations, including one for Best Picture.
In the drama section, director Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical film,The Fabelmans, led with five nominations, including Best Motion Picture and Best Actress for Michelle Williams. Spielberg also received nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay for Tony Kushner. The other nominees for Best Motion Picture - Drama include Disney’sAvatar: The Way of Water, Warner Bros.‘Elvis, Focus Features’Tár, and Paramount’sTop Gun: Maverick.
