Rockstar Games fans have long been comparingGrand Theft Auto Vwith theRed Dead Redemptiongames, from itsonline componentsto other factors, with connections often drawn between the games, and it appears fans are now theorizing a time travel link betweenGrand Theft Auto Vand theRed Deadgames as per some convincing in-game content.
First and foremost, time travel is established withinRed Dead Redemption 2. In the game, there is a character namedFrancis Sinclairwho is met through a side quest in which players are to find a number of rock carvings. After all is said and done, they return to Sinclair’s cabin only to find Mrs. Sinclair caring for a baby version of Francis. Hence, time travel exists to some degree in the Rockstar universe.

Between both series, players have also discovered the existence of the Sasquatch hunter. In bothGrand Theft Auto Vand theUndead NightmareDLC for the first, the Sasquatch hunter can be found, appearing identical in both titles. The hunter might be easy to miss as one of thehidden side quests inGrand Theft Auto V. However, the Easter egg provides more evidence, nonetheless.
Perhaps most prominently of theRed DeadEaster eggs inGrand Theft Auto V, however, is the existence of a book called “Red Dead.” The book is apparently penned by “J Marston.” However, while this could easily refer to John Marston, the playable protagonist inRed Dead RedemptionandRed Dead Redemption 2, it more likely refers to Jack Marston who has a greater appreciation for literature and the arts.
With all of the above evidence, the time travel link is fairly convincing. Considering both are from the same developer and that there are references to other Rockstar games inGrand Theft Auto V, the likelihood of a time travel connection toRed Dead Redemption 2is possible. Yet, the link is only one of manyEaster eggs withinGrand Theft Auto V, as players can also find references to aliens, a whale skeleton, and more.
Grand Theft Auto Vis currently on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
