Obsidian Entertainment’s open-world action-adventure gameGroundedlaunched in early access in mid-2020. Since then, Obsidian has dropped frequent updates forGrounded, first on a monthly schedule and then on a quarterly based with larger content patches. Now Obsidian is ready to put the final touches onGroundedbefore saying the co-op game is complete and ready to be experienced in full.Groundedwill fully launch for PC and Xbox consoles on September 27.Groundedgame director Adam Brenneckeshared a short video on Friday in celebration ofGrounded’s second early access launch anniversary. In the video, Brennecke thanks all ofGrounded’s fans for playing the game and helping guide its direction over the past two years. He then confirmsGrounded’s final release date of September 27 and calls the time between now and then the “Home Stretch” of development. There are a lot of exciting plans forGroundedcoming together and the release date is just one of them.RELATED:Obsidian Entertainment’s Grounded Is Getting Its Own TV ShowTo start the Home Stretch, Obsidian is releasing its final update toGrounded’s public testing servers. Update 0.14.0 includes several exciting features thatGroundedplayers will appreciate. These include the Gnat pet, the Cookery building, the ability to convert games into custom games, a revamp of the armor and weapon upgrade system, and other changes. This is just a taste of what’s to come in the final version ofGrounded, of course, butObsidianis still going to use these last months of early access for their intended purpose.

The other announcement that Brennecke is celebrating is the recent confirmation of aGroundedtelevision show being in development. The game is currently being developed into an animated TV series byStar Wars: The Clone Warswriter Brent Friedman. That’s not to say that it will happen, as there’s still a lot of work to be done, but it’s exciting nonetheless.

Grounded’s full release was initially announced in June. Obsidian confirmed it was wrapping up the1.0 release ofGroundedand planned to deliver it in September. Content included in this final major update includes the Mantis boss, the upper yard to explore, the remaining story chapters, as well as plenty of new armor and weapons, too.

As with all major first-party Xbox releases,Groundedwill also be made available throughXbox Game Passon both PC and console. For those who haven’t givenGroundeda try yet, this will be the best opportunity to see what Obsidian Entertainment has been working on these past two years.
